Yes you are on the right way.
You Smoke Limit map is at address 75FB8. X-axis is air in mg/str and Y-axis is rpm. Values in the table are fuel(diesel) for appropriate air mass and rpm. So lets get for example 1000 column (look at picture). This means 1000 mg air per stroke. Divide it to 17 (desired AFR). Result will be 58.8 but in mg/str. So to convert in mm^3 (EDC15 works in mm^3) we need divide this value to 0.835(which is amount of diesel in one mm^3). And final result will be 70.44 mm^3. This value we must put in table.

Ideal AFR 14.7 is for gasoline engines. For diesels is about 17.5-17 minimum for smokeless.

Hey Genadko!
thanks for your support.
Going back to the value we calculated I only have one doubt.
My understanding is I have to increment a selected smoke map area to reach the value.
I compared the ori and mapped files. The values change from 500 (air) on. So I believe I need to increment from that point on.
What about IQ limit map? Do I have to update in order to get the same max value as smoke map?
I hope my understanding is correct.

Good luck to your country!

Hi Vince!
You understood correctly i think.
If you increase fuel from 500 mg/str you will get better response from low rpm. If you want increase power only on high rpm you should change values from 750 or 800 mg/str air.
TL (IQ limit as you say) should be lower than in SL table - 1-2 mm^3. Рemember that the torque limiter determines your car behavior.
Stay closer to AFR 17.5. Injection time (DOI) don't increase more than 8-10%.

Good to ear You Genadko!
Well I am playing at home waiting for this virus is gone, We can not move from home except for emergency or food shopping.
I am studying winOLS that is complicated but when you get confident is quite a powerful tool.
So far, after long reading and your support I made the changes that I am summarising...take your time to read :mrgreen: :mrgreen:
- EGR (7235A) is now closed;
- IQ limit (7673E) has been raise +40% with max value 7000 (still need to understand some maps values :crazy: )
- Driver wish 1 (75992) and 2 (76BB2): I checked the ori file and I found DriverWish1 has just some values higher than DW 2 (similar 99%). In mapped file I found DW 2 has slighlty higher values than DW1. If my understanding is correct, DW2 is for high RPM so I guess it is good to leave DW2 higher than DW1;
- smoke (75FB8). I checked ori file an found that the average is more or less AFR 16. In mapped file as you noted AFR was very bad (low13 or lees) so I calculated values to have 17 AFR from 500 (mg air) and I updated file. I will try the map and see what the response is;
- duration 1 (795EA) and 2 (798BA)...reduced to 30%
So far that is it. What do you think about...and thanks again for your guidance :thumbup:

I will test the map on saturday and see how the car will behave. I hope I will solve the engine red warning light that goes as with fault code P0601 that should be internal CHK checkup.

Injection time (DOI) don't increase more than 8-10%.

Ones again - duration maps are calibration maps for injectors. In X-axis (which is amount of fuel) you have 70 mm^3. For now don't touch them as you plan to inject max 70 mm^3 fuel. If you plan to inject more than 70 mm^3 you need to extrapolate X-axis to desired amount of fuel and calculate right duration for it. ;)
About DW - first is for air conditioner switched off and second is for air conditioner switched on i think.

Ok. I just kept the first decrease so to have just 30% plus against the ori and NOT the 45% that was too much.

Ouh i forgot about IQ limit in function of coolant temperature (7673E). It is limit your fuel to 52 mm^3.

Hi Genadko,

thanks You. I am slowly going through the maps comparing same tables for better understanding and day after day the picture becomes more clear!
So far my understanding is that all values must be consistent otherwise one map/value will not allow other maps/values to reach the established target value...correct me if I am wrong. Therefore my doubt.
Let's take the ori map and look at same (max) values in tuned map:
ORI: smoke: 78,3 IQ limit: 50 TQ limit: 51 Driver wish1: 65
tuned: smoke: 94 IQ limit:50 TQ limit: 70 Driver wish1: 65
Duration increased by 45% will ever work if there are other limitations set? :?: :?: :?:
I wonder which table is taking control/limiting all other?
I can set smoke to 100...but if other maps are below this value I guess the 100 will NEVER be reached.
Am I right?
If so, why is smoke always increased even in the original map? :crazy: :crazy: :crazy:

Exactly!

The ECU works in that way - DW-->TL--->SL and its always select lowest value. So let say we wish 70mm^3 in DW and ECU check if this fuel quantity is allowed by TL for appropriate rpms. Then if it is allowed by them ECU checks if SL allow this amount of fuel and gives lowest of them. Then it checks temperature depending limiters and gives smallest value of them. Then it goes to DOI and see how much microseconds is needed to inject this amount of fuel. Also ECU need to know when to start injection. For this is written SOI table and so on and so on. ;)
Duration increased by 45% will ever work if there are other limitations set?
I told you - for that reason car smokes. Limiters do they work but we ask more and more fuel with duration. That is not right way to inject more fuel.

Hi Genadko,
I tuned the file and I am very happy about the final result after testing it.
Resuming I did as follows:
- EGR closed;
- IQ limit increased to have it coherent with other valuse;
- TQ left as it was a little bit high but it is ok; it will be limited anyway ;
- smoke tuned to have AFR 17 (a portion of the whole map area);
- duration 1 and 2 are same on this car even in ori file so I just tuned to have 30% increase;
- driver wish increaset to have it coherent with IQ.
- turbo pressure and pressure temp left as orignal tuning 6/7% increase;
- rail pressure min to max 4 to 10%;
I made some test and there very very little smoke.
Moreover the red engine warning light is gone. :mrgreen:
I did everything with WinOLS, I had time to apply and it is a quite powerful tolol.
I wanto to thank you the forum and you expecially as you helped me to understand!
When you come to Italy or I come to Buklgaria (beautiful land, I was there in Varna and capital city) a beer is for you.

...all ok execpt the red engine warning light still goes on. When the ECU wakes up the warning lights.
Fault code P0601 ECU CHK internal memory check.
As I have the original ECU I will flash that one as well. But I believe it is something in the file because when I flash the ori file back into the ECU the red light does not light so the ECU is fine.
What should I check or investigate into the file? CHK is ok. I tried with all software I have and CHK is good.
