I think that you locked the ECU by mistake. To unlock it try this:
1. Take out the boot wire from the ECU.
2. Connect the ECU to the car.
3. Disconnect the cooler fans(remove the fuse).
4. Turn the ignition on and wait for more then 30 minutes.
5. Turn off the ignition.
6. Wait few minutes.
7. Start the car.
8. Make a happy face.

hey guys,

Not good news at all -- tried leaving the ignition on for 40minutes, then off for 30 minutes, car wont start.
Now the ignition has to be ON before the VAG will communicate to the ECU - and when it does, it throws errors as you can see below attached.

Also here is a picture of the dash board when trying to start the car.

Have you tried replacing the battery before doing anything.
Flat batteries can make the ecu go nuts.

Find info about med17 ecu tuning protection. My best guess is that you locked the ECU with a bad tool.

A friend of mine came past me today and tried to read the ECU with his dim sport GENIUS MASTER and also no luck. He reckons the ECU is dead.

What I am upset about is the fact that I don't know what I did wrong. If I knew, I could make sure I did not make the same mistake again
