F Focus 1.6 TDCI PUG DPF off questions

Postby kapis » Wed Oct 30, 2013 11:19 am

Hi everybody :) recently I have purchased Ford Focus MKII 1.6TDCI and as I read in the net about that car - I see that the DPF is giving users all kinds of trouble, so I have decided that this DPF has to go :D

So far I have managed to get the flash contents of the ECU, and tried to switch DPF off using Volta 1.2, ECUSafe 1.9.3.0 and ECUSafe 2.0.0.0 and then compared the resulting files in hex comparator and all 3 files returned different results, althrou both ECUSafe versions seemed to edit the same spots in the files but with different values! Volata editet file is very different from ECUSafe (both versions)
here is small screenshot of VOLTA VS ECUSafe:

I do not have winols soft but looking at this picture - it looks like some map as it has some interesting pattern to it :)

The main reason for me wanting to learn this is that I have problem with trusting people and if I pay somebody to do the job - I want to know that things are done right because there are many forums where people has had problems after some shops removed their DPF.

I am attaching all the modified .bin files and an originakl file, in hope that somebody is willing to share their knowledge about wat has been done to these files.

Thanks in advance - Kaspars

Do not use volta and ecusafe...
Use Winols, find the value, and voila dpf off

Hello and thanks for the reply, I did managed to install winols demo, tried to follow this guide: https://sites.google.com/site/vagecumap/finding-dpf-switch-in-edc16-ecu but unfortunately in my original file I was unable to find the sequence, that manual is for VAG cars therefore I don't think that the sw on ECU is the same.

So maybe somebody can advise me - is there DPF off switch or there is lot more to be done??

Thanks in advance :)

I also tried this solution: http://www.ecuedit.com/206-hdi-1-6-edc16c34-how-to-manual-remove-t2872
but also failed to find this byte sequence :(

hello again, so I have done more reading about this and have found out that for this ecu there must be software switch to gracefuly shut down DPF and in my ori file I have found this byte string:

00 9F 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 00 0C 3B

I have compared it with VoltaBP generated file, and there the string is:

00 9F 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 0C 3B

can it be that this simple change switches off the DPF? can anybody confirm/decline?

hello, it turns out that the DPF on my car is alredy turned off!!! so from that I understand that byte sequence:
Code: Select all
00 9F 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 00 0C 3B

is for DPF off!, Can somebody confirm?
And maybe somebody can tell how the original string looks?

Thanks hmreis.

also wanted to clarify - if this switch is done - I can remove DPF and pressure sensor without problem? or I need to remove some DTC's also?
