EEPROM 5P08C3

Postby vince59 » Sat Apr 04, 2020 6:53 pm

again with a quite known topic...I also talked into my other thread but not to mix up it could be better to have the discussion here.
in order to make a car running with a donor ECU I had to desolder the ori eeprom then read and flash the content into the donor eeprom.
After flashing the car starts but the red engine warning light goes on.
As found over the web, I did this procedure using TL866II that unfortunately does not have 95P08:
- read ori eeprom as 95080;
- flash as 95040.
Reading:
- as 95040 last memory address is 01F0
- as 95080 or 25LC080 last memory address 03F0.
Programming:
- as 95080 ERROR
- as 95040 ok.
However I believe some bit are confusing...missing.
Any ideas how to solve?

...I forgot one thing.
I see someone being able to make immo off files from eeprom dump. I downloade a couple but the files are all C3 values ....does anybody know if it works?

WRONG information in post #2
There is something into the cleared file but the dump is 1k while the cleared file is 512kb

If you read 95080 you need write 95080... if you write 95040 you don´t write complete file.

5p080 support on vvdi-prog and upa. also on tl866-plus, not on tl866.

You can try change 5p08c3 eeprom for 95080.

Yes I am aware about what you said but facts is that using TL866II Plus reading as 95080 is allowed ...programming as 95080 return ERROR  :wtf:

you at the very initial stage ruined the dump, these types of memory are different and are read and written strictly by their number. You killed an epprom dump while trying to write to a chip
5P08C3 and 95080 different in structure.

You can write your dump of 5p080c3 in an eeprom 95080 and use it in the ecu. But you can't write a 5p080c3 as 95080.

Ok I see what you say. Let me explain better for clear understanding.
I am aware that not using the proper match of the chip model would eventually bring to ruin the dump. Unfortunately my programmers do not support 5p08c3. Therefore I had to test another way as I found over the web assuming the chips are "similar".
I have read the dump from 5p08c3 as 95080 and flashed the file in another 5p08c3 as a 95040. I could not flash back as 95080 as programmer returns me ERROR.
Result of this operation is car STARTING and RUNNING but engine red warning light ON. Checked with MES or other software and some information about ECU were displayed wrong.
So I assume something goes wrong during read/flash process due to different chips. BTW the essential information are stil lkept as the car starts and the 5p08c3 does not contain vital information for the engine to run.
So a couple of question:
- can I use another eeprom (95080) instead of 5p08c3?....answer seems to be yes;
- what is the proper way to READ 5p08c3 if this is not supported?
- would 95p08c3 fit better than 95080 ?
Hope I made myself clear.

-Yes, tou can use 95080
- Proper way to read are whit other programer, ttl866 not support this eeprom.
- They are compatible, I have used both interchangeably.

Thank You. Sooner or later I will buy another programmer. I am going to ask to implement this chip into TL866II maybe they listen...
