The bane of my existence!

Postby flexeh » Sat Jul 25, 2020 5:51 pm

Good afternoon all,

Apologise if this is in the wrong forum, A friend told me about this site and that you may be able to steer me in the right direction or be able to actually solve my problem!

I own a zafira mk2 Z19dth with the Euro3 engine without a DPF as standard (rare on a zaffy) - forced upon me due to having kids lol.. I have had an issue with an air leak on the turbo system for years (about 4/5 now), I was able to manage it before until I fixed something else! I’ve replaced pipes and also had a welded inlet manifold - I even blocked off the EGR years ago and Had a guy edit my bin file to delete the code off.

So as I said above I did manage it - I didn’t put my foot down and gradually increased speed etc - however my car didn’t really get up to temp, so the blowers were always cold, so last year I decided to replace the thermostat as the old one was stuck open. Brilliant warm air in the car, but being able to manage the ECN2279 became none existent! As soon as the car hits temp now 86-90 the ECN pretty much comes on 9 times out of 10 even if I’m not booting it

I decided to remove my edited bin file deleting the egr and installed my original file again, this didn’t make a difference - I then got the welded inlet - again didn’t make a difference, so unless I keep throwing money at it I’m sorta stuck with it. Is am there anyway I can just delete the 2279 code off the system? I have MPPS but obviously apart from loading the map on the guy did for me, I haven’t edited anything out of fear! The car isn’t long from dying off, it would just be nice to be able to drive it for the last few months of its live before it goes off to the scrappy in the sky!

If anyone wouldn’t mind sharing if it is possible and if so, could they help me locate where the hex data is to turn it off!

Thanks,

flexeh

Hi, I’ve attached the file - if someone can help delete 2279 air intake leak I’d appreciate it.

I have changed my MAF and the inlet manifold is welded and all welds are very good with no signs of leakage. It’s doing my head in now.
