SIMOS 18 Rant

Tools used for ECU reading and writing

SIMOS 18 Rant

Postby jawdoss » Mon Apr 08, 2019 11:37 am

Why is to that companies like unitronic can provide us hardware to flash their tunes to our ecu. Yet for us to get any hardware ourselves like a kessv2, ect, will cost us thousands. Just got quoted $10500 AUD for a kessv2 and ECM Titanium software to accompany.
What are we meant to do?

Even trying to go a cobb accessport route to use their 'protuner' software, I need to have a workshop and dyno to get the PT software for VW maps....

Should i give up?

Yes, so that ends up being $8000 AUD for me, plus the $2500+ for winols.
Yet you can buy a tune from unitronic for $900 and it comes with hardware and all!

if you are planing to do this only for your vehicle not as a profession then just go get your car remapped...even that 900$ is much for a remap

Yea mate,
If that is your attitude then give up for sure,

If you actually want to do this as a profession, then identify the market that you wish to target, and get the most appropriate tools for the job.

No doubt you have gone to alientech as their marketing is quite strong, over here in Aus.

Get a eurodyne maestro cable and you can tune your own car for less than a thousand dollars and get access to many maps and enough info to tune even a big turbo setup, if you're wanting to tune these as a business then you'll need to shell out some big bucks, we all do eventually!
