I managed to set up a bench flashing harness for a single plug EDC15C2. Managed to read/write it perfectly so then I bricked it on purpose by removing the power.

I can't seem to get it in to boot mode however. If I power up without grounding the boot pin I get the message 'error booting ECU'.
If I ground either pin 24 of the EEPROM or pin 5 of the processor I get the error 'error downloading data to ECU'.

This makes me think that I am getting boot mode but there is a further connection error or maybe I fried the processor/eeprom whilst experimenting with different resistor values???

Anybody had similar problems?

Some months ago I've tried to "brick" my EDC15P spare ECU to try to recover it in bootmode and I failed!!.
I've tried with both the Galletto and Mpps... Mpps just doesn't start and Galletto give me an error when trying to erase the flash (29F400BB driver -> 29F400BT).
I ended up writing my own program to read\write both the 29F400BT and 24c04...
Bootmode flashing anyway MUST always work if the bootloader\driver is OK...unsuccessful bootmode flashing and successful desoldering\programming means the tool isn't compatible with the ECU or has something wrong, the problem anyway can't be in the flash chip or the CPU as it would not work in the normal mode too...

Restored Edc15V in the boot mode with MPPS :)
Galletto in the boot mode of not writing, but reading the firmware! :?
ECU works

A little mistake on the OPTICAN pin picture

Postby alexgrant » Mon Dec 02, 2013 7:26 pm

http://checksum.cz/forum/files/edc15c2_146_164.jpg this one shows correct pin position & numbering

& this one is incorrect ( at least on the 3 plug 081 ECU i have here ) http://www.pinout.net/connectors/EDC15C ... ENAULT.jpg -error is that on plug T1, K-line is actuallly at B4 & Power at D1

More interstingly, now i have the correct pin positions, i have recovered in boot mode a failed MPPS flash attempt ( using byteshooter ) & can read & write in boot but cant get any bench read with BS or CMD. No car here to test ! If i have Mr Whippy's luck, it will run ! but could the inital incorrect pin connection have blown something ?

Hmm no start..

Using the immo off file ( attached ) with these ID numbers -

Num. HW: 0281010250
Num. SW: 1037359222

Byteshooter I'd's it OK on the bench via PINS

But my original ID numbers are

Num. HW: 0281011081
Num. SW: 1037364193

& with a file in with original ID ( mod or ORI, ) cant get an ID via BS or CMD.. have tried flashing with CMD ( to correct CHK ) but still the same..

Seem to get different behavior depending on what flash file is in the ECU..

If i flash In ORI via boot or pins, will it start even if cant get OBD ID ? Does E2P get corrupted when MPPS write fails ?

OK it actaually starts & runs ( was bad translation from customer - Ha!) no DPF dtc's but anti-pollution light is illuminated on dash..

So , as is the style on here -

Tuning -done
DPF off - done
Immo off - done

Just EGR off & anti-pollution lamp to sort :)

Hi. I have same problem as I´m unable to connect via boot.
I have tried coonecting to ecu plug and grounding pin 24 on 29f400bt flash without success.
Have tried other ways also like lifting the 24th pin, no success.
With Kess I get generic error and wake error messages.
With MPPS no ECU found.
With FGTech v52 get an ID but without anything in ID window but 5Gv.. and .............. all the way
Will try the ground only for 3 to 5 sec and see if it works.
