EDC17CP02 Boot mode

Postby Rikko » Sat Jul 03, 2021 5:29 pm

Hi All,

I have an ECU that has unfortunately flooded. It is operational at the moment, but water ingress is significant, so I need to clone it before it gives up the ghost. EDC17CP02 is covered by K-Suite help files, however this particular version is not (it's based on NXP rather than Infineon Tricore microprocessor). Maybe someone has experience with finding the Boot pin?

Thanks in advance

It's 0281015851. Bosch identifies it as an EDC17CP02, with BMW part#7823799. This numer matches the label on the ECU, which comes from an E70 X5.

Thanks

I thought the same, but Bosch believes otherwise. :/

Perhaps I'm looking at it wrong... Maybe I don't need Boot mode to read the ECU?

Ok, so I'm confident that I've been "fighting windmills" here. ECU being NXP based will not have a Tricore protection, therefore I don't need to enter boot, in order to access the ECU data. So I gave it a go with the traditional BDM readout, and K-Tag has a PT100 protocol built in for MPC564 microcontroller. This though, I can only access if I select EDC16C35 (offered for E70).

At the moment, I get a communication error, so I need to troubleshoot connectivity. Perhaps the ECU has given the ghost in the process.

Note: There's no edit post button on this forum? :)
Edit: There is now. I reckon I needed to reach a minimum number of posts
