Postby dadoom » Fri Nov 09, 2018 9:03 am

Hi there,
this is a question for Tuning Experts (the ones who have experience).
Is it enough to tune following maps for Basic Stage 1 Tuning???

Torque Limiter
Torque to IQ
Drivers Wish
Drivers Wish Limiter
Boost Limiter
Boost
N75 (Boost Control)
Smoke by (Mass Air Flow)
Smoke by (Manifold Absolute Pressure)
Egr Off

or we should Touch also:

Rail Pressure Limiter
Requested Rail Pressure
Duration
SOI maps

Appreciate any help!!!

Hi dadoom

To be honest, you could actually just tweak the Trq lim on many cars as it's already made possible by the IQ to Trq map, boost, SOI, Rail, Drivers and so fourth.
The most likely map to limit could be the Lambda map(smoke limiter), which probably will need a little tweak with the trq lim :)

If I would do it, I would find all maps you listed and check how much I can increase in Trq lim, before I reach another limiting factor in one of the other maps.

Then after you've made the map, then go test and log. Especially for boost spikes and EGT. If the EGT limiter kicks in you will loose IQ, and then you need to either Increase SOI, Boost or Rail Pressure(Which lowers DOI). Boost spikes you need to adjust the N75 map, so that it will handle the increase amount of exhaust gas.

Hi Logstor,
you are quite right.
I have noticed in VAG 2.0 TDI engine 103 kW, EDC17
that Nm and IQ and DW have values way above Torque Limiter
and indeed we just need to increase Torque Limiter as shown on images below

Torque Limiter:
https://ibb.co/dy7PVA

Nm to IQ
https://ibb.co/mbL3qA

Drivers Wish
https://ibb.co/dXe2iV

What else bothers me is the fact that in Torque Limiter are
values 30 to 40Nm higher than in Official manufacturer specifications.
I suppose they measure torque on wheel versus in torque limiter Torque on crankshaft
Am i wrong?????
Thanks

You do not mention duration map which is most important, if its not scaled to desired mg , it will be limiting factor for all other maps
