1.6HDi rebuild and tuning topic

Postby sparco » Sun Mar 16, 2014 2:46 pm

I didn't know wher to put it, so I'll just post this topic here.

I am currently in the progress of rebuilding a 1.6HDi engine and whilst I'm at it, I am prepping it to take some extra power.
I am not aiming for crazy figures, as I want to keep it at a reliable power level, but realisticly hoping to get it up to 170bhp.
I'll try to document every step of the way, by videotaping my work and uploading it to youtube.

A wide variety of videos will be made, as I also plan to do some non 1.6HDi related stuff.
But will also be covering some general car related maintenance, repair and tuning stuff.

I will post the links to the videos here and all I ask from you guys is to please like, comment or subscribe on/to the youtube channel if you can ;)
Normally speaking, I would upload one new video a week.
Hope you guys enjoy this and stay tubed :)

So I was in the proces of polishing up the compressor housing...
I started with sanding off all of the texture on the surface and gradually worked my way up to a fine grit, went over it one last time with a scotch brite pad...
I rather like the flat, brushed look it has now...
What would be your opinion, leave it like this or polish it up...?
Need some advice on this guys ;)

Picture doesnt really do it any justice, was taken up close with flash...

Have a ton of new material ready for a load of new and interesting videos...
Keep your eyes peeled on this topic in the near future...

In 2 weeks time I'll be rebuilding my gearbox and while I'm at it, I was thinking of having the thing powdercoated... could use some advice on a colorscheme tho... what would be your thoughts, bearing in mind the new engine block will get the same treatment ;)

So I've been to the powdercoater today to get some info and choose a color...
I've been quoted 60€ to sandblast, mask and coat both halfs of the gearbox, not too bad I recon...
Gone for a bright copper finish which looks lush in the bag, just hope it'll work out nicelt IRL as well... :P

New (little) video, up and running ;)

This is the first in a new series of videos I made.
Sort of a little teaser/trailer.

In these new line of videos, I'll be explaining some Peugeot 207 maintenance procedures, starting off with changing the rear brake discs and pads.

Little FYI, this is the first video I made with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5
So far it's working really good, but I still have a lot of features to learn about this software
