Honda Civic iCDTi

This is my very 1st attempt at a real tune.
No doubt there is plenty of issues.
But at least I will know what I am doing wrong.

So hurt me ! ;) :lol:

Bad file.
No need to tune DW maps below 60%
EGR is active. No need to mod the egr flow maps like you did.
Lambda maps can be ori at low rpm and airflow.
TQ to IQ is ok.
Injection duration maps need to be adjusted for more fuel.
Boost maps need a lot of work. Tune the last part of the map.
No rail and no soi maps.

I was also loathe to touch the SOI and FRP maps without knowing how the selectors work.
They made no sense to me....and without knowing which is selected when.
There was no point.

More input if you dont mind. Duration maps are calibration maps ? They go upto 100mm3 or 83mg. So dont need to be touched ?
- In your ID maps you have big jump between IQ60 and IQ100, so the ECU will have problems calculating the correct ID for IQs between 60 and 80. The car will NOT have the correct power. To fix this you must add 2 more IQ columns. You must calculate the injection time fo IQ70 and IQ80 in all RPM scale and add them in the ID maps.

Can you expand in this too. Only boost map 3 and VNT map 3 are active.
- You detuned the boost map at low RPM and load and there is no need for that. If you are doing moderate mod file then you need to tune boost at high IQs. VNT map must be tuned so the ECU can command more closing of the vanes. Doing this you will up the boost. Leaving VNT stock will give big headache to the ECU truing to get the desired boost.

- I meant upping the rail a bit, but you do not need to do this for moderate tune.

1. Thanks for the tip on the duration. I assumed it would extrapolate the gap. I didnt realise it could/would be an issue.

2. Ah the lowered boost :D. I was aiming for economy here rather than maximum boost. So I dropped boost to sit on the maximum efficiency line of the compressor map rather than on the surge line at high IQ. This required dropping boost upto about 30-35mg....maximum cruising IQ. Do you think that would be counter productive ? Anyway the idea was to merge maximum boost at high IQ with maximum compressor efficiency at low IQ. Hence the map you see.

You are right about the VNT of course. I do work on them now :thumbup: Ironically the issue is normally overboost with decat, silencers removed, larger diameters, FMIC and major induction mods.

3. Thanks for clearing that up. I did think about upping the rail (honest :angel: ). I think you can push it upto about 1700bar max. Do you think 1650bar would make a worthwhile improvement ? I had my doubts at the time and decided against touching the SOI and FRP anyway without understanding the selectors.
