Getting rid of DPF/FAP antipollution system in 2005 Citroen

Postby x_XP » Mon May 13, 2013 4:17 pm

Hi,

Personally, I would have the DPF filter hacked out and the ECU reprogrammed ASAP, but I don't know how to do this in the ECU yet.
There is some information on this forum regarding de FAPing Citroen C5 but referring to different model and i need my 3 posts to be able to post my file

At present my car is showing two faults:
Tyre pressure is not monitored
FAP Additive level low

I would like to perform safe and complete DPF/FAP removal from C5 ECU and all roads lead me to this place for self education.
I would like to remove any reference to FAP additive system, additive ECU, additive injection, DPF filter and it's pressure sensors, FAP regeneration and/or anything else if required.
Firstly i do some questions
is ECU in 2005 Citroen C5 2.2l HDI is suitable for this job?
Will ECUSAFE work on this ECU?
Do I need to punch Filter first or after ECU editing?
What is possibility of bogging this operation even with right technique and if so can this be reverse having the original file?

I did not acquire any cabling or software to read/write from&to ECU yet and unsure to what is sufficient to do this job correctly first time as it is so many to choose from and I am asking for some guidance in this field.
Can someone please post the link for the right cable for programing for this ECU is Galleto suitable, I already have Lexia3 diagnostic cabling.

Also i read in this forum regarding FAP removal in Citroen C5
"You need LEXIA to turn off the FAP as well in BSI configuration after flashing"
and
" disable FAP in BSI and additive fuel in INJECTION (edc15c2) with lexia."

why I would need to do this if all remarks to FAP are removed ?

Thanks Michael

I would like to add to my previous post which cabling should I get for this job, that it is most likely I'll be doing DPF removal only without any further ECU modification
I would appreciate if someone could point me to the right cable link without going overboard money wise to do this single task only first time
My C5 is equipped with Steinbauer power module which give me more than adequate power do drive around and overtake when needed

Cheers Michael

Since I had no response in here I Google for cable recommendation for my car i purchased MPPS cable from eBay which is in the post - SMPS MPPS K+CAN V13 Chip Tuning Power Auto ECU Tuning Car Remap OBD2 OBD Cable B - item number 200916455774
But later I've notice in the ad where my car is listed - "Citroen,C5,2.2 HDI,Bosch,EDC15C2,Kline,Yes,Yes,No" - where "No" is in relation to the checksum.
Will this cable be any good for the my project of replacing ECU file or will I need to buy another more suitable cable ?
Perhaps this one could be sufficient with additional checksum correction some other way?

Cheers Michael

Finally I found this post in ECU tunning forum relating to the same vehicle as mine but different build date
Cable recommended is different but I will follow up the rest of suggestions.

I will welcome any other comments

thanks Michael

In my view, you can use this cable. I personally use Galleto 1260 but I heard that the MPPS is better. then you download a map to pc. Give it here on the forum you can adjust the map or via ECUsafe WinOLS. When working with WinOLS is good to have some skills or slowly test. and study the files on which it was FAPOFF. It is my opinion

Thank you tomik for your input.
I do not think i will be brave enough to use WinOLS as i do not have time to do it this way and learn at the same time.
I think ECUsafe is my friend here, i do have ver 2.0 and will play with my file later when my cable will arrive
As ECUsafe do not do checksum any more i have to do it some other way but at the present i do not know what to use for this task

Finally I got MPPS cable delivered and do have question
Within MPPS software under Read Option there are:

Full Read (Kline Only)
Data Only (Default)
and
grayed out and ticked
Security Bypass (Default Edc15 Only)

Also there are:

Speed Option
Fast (Bench Flashing)
Medium (Default)
and
Slow (Recovery Mode)

I read my file with this default setting and it come up with "ECU flash read correctly" and let me save this file.

Is it correct way to do it or do I need set it to Full Read or other settings adjusted?
Thanks Michael

All done successfully
After writing ECUsafe DPF remove modified file into C5 ECU, car started and did not display any fouls.
Next day i had DPF removed and refitted by my mechanic after I drilled one 2 inch hole with core drill bit trough top and the bottom part of ceramic honeycomb filter, because i read somewhere that fully removed honeycomb ceramics from DPF makes exhaust system to resonate during driving at higher revs
Personally i do not feel any difference when driving after this modification, but i am happy with the result

Hi.

So the sum of all is?

With Lexia it is possible to turn off FAP, in BSI configuration menu choose FAP present NO. Then to Injection configuration: Ecus present change additive ecu to ABSENT. Correct?

I did that and got fault messages a lot regarding Additive ECU and it`s values, eolys quantity, fuel filler cap etc..

Then did following: drilled CAT and FAP away completely, removed EGR piping completely and made plugs to exhaust manifold and intake manifold. Then tried again to set FAP NO leaving Additive ECU Present, still Antipollution and ESP warnings, ok the egr is still there. I think i have to get a Winols in which i can edit egr data, check checsum and save to a downloadable file.

am i looking in to this the correct way?
