DPF/FAP removal citroen c5 2.2hdi '02

Postby tigerryes » Tue Aug 07, 2012 1:01 am

Hi there, i'm looking to buy the correct cable and software to remove these from my car, also to remove the egr if possible too as i have seen blanking plates available.
1. how do i find out which ecu i have? I believe these differ for the files they use
2. which cable is correct
3. which is the best software for the job?
I could do with a run through on proceedure, i'm quite good on computers and have an understanding of cars. As no one seems to be able to perform this for me locally at a reasonable price i decided to try myself and maybe help others if i don't mess it up. I have seen that the file you copy from the ecu should be saved(in case of error) then i need to change it. I understand that this file can be posted and changed for me.
So if anyone can offer any advice i would be very greatfull
thanks in advance
Tiger

Hello Tiger,
this is a peace fo cake 8-)

You can use several different cables to read / write the bin.
Most of users use Galletto and KWP2000+, something like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/KWP2000-KWP2000 ... fb&vxp=mtr

If I should decide from this two I would prefer KWP2000+, you can look my post here why:
post853?hilit=kwp#p853

When you read your ECU, post your bin to the Original section here:
orginal-ecu-files

There are several maps inside the bin for FAP system,
there are also several switches inside that bin that has to be changed.

When we look at your original we will see HW and SW number. For this engine you have Bosch EDC15C2 ECU:
http://www.carecus.com/citroen-c5-2-2-hdi-133cv

You can see al HW numbers for that car here:
http://www.boschecus.com/bosch-citroen-c5-2-2-hdi-ecu

And for that engine here:
http://www.boschecus.com/bosch-ecu-sw-a ... ne-2-2-hdi

For FAP removal for that ECU you can safely use ECUSAFE 1.9.x version, it works fine, on other hand, you can do it with WinOLS software manually.

But first your original bin post, than step by step.
Hope you get enough information for start...

Regards

Thanks very much ecuedit, thats just what i'm looking for. I will go to ebay and get me a cable, i have seen on ebay ECUSAFE 2.0 is this as good or better? And also do i have to find out what ecu number i have before buying the cable as they seem to list only some cars?

There have been reports from some people that 2.0 gave them problems, I would suggest you take the advice to be on the safe side.
In regard to the cable make sure it lists either PSA, Citroen, Peugot or EDC15 support. Some cables are quite universal, some not. Some are used for diagnostics, others some for flashing (programming). Some work on certain car brands, and not on others .. :) If you are not sure what to buy, post the link here we'll help you out.

Cheers!

Is this one any good? it lists my car but to be honest this is all new to me and i can't see for the life of me when it would plug into the car, the only @plug socket' is on passenger side with fuses but thought this was for galletto cable.

I really don't want to mess it up lol

Your engine code is: 4HX
Your ECU: EDC15C2
Needed tool: KWP2000+ or Galleto
Needed tool for DEFAP: WinOLS or ECUSafe (WinOLS --> manually, ECUSafe --> automatically)

I suggest you buy tool, read ecu, post file of your ecu, after that FAP removal...

Ok so have just this sec ordered a KWP2000+. As i understand it i don't need the ECUsafe software if you can change the file for me :D
I will at some point buy the software if and when i can find version 1.9 can only find version 2.0 on ebay just now. I thought for future cars/ or helping friends maybe I can read up how to change files myself, but for my car and first time out thought best to ask for you to change file so i can't mess it up. Please correct me if this is wrong(hoping not).
