EDC16c34 Fixing someone else's mistakes

Postby HDiPower » Sat May 25, 2019 3:27 am

Hi guys,
Wondering if anyone has some input to this problem, ill try keep it short;
I am a Peugeot mechanic, not a tuner but I am familiar enough from playing with EDC15 a few years ago etc.

A customer brought me a car (1.6 110 hdi 307)that I diagnosed as having a bad egr, they declined repair and went and got the DPF and EGR written out by 'some guy'. The car never started again after he went near it. It was towed back to me and I opened the original ecu to see components broken off board, eeprom ruined etc......great!

I ordered a plug and play ecu with DPF and EGR removed and Immob off from a well enough known and respect tuner! This got the car to fire right up and it runs and drives fine with no EML, however I still have 3 codes persisting:

P2121 & P1152 - for air heater throttle position copy signal.
P1434 - Open circuit additive pump motor.

Car is fitted with air doser with 2 flaps, one for intercooler bypass and the other for throttle restriction. I tested it on another car and it works but doesn't move with this ecu and fails to activate with component test. Live data says requested signal is out of range (should be in the 0-100% range). Wiring is fine.

Car is also fitted with just an additive pump, no additive ecu. The pump can be accessed with diagbox and commanded on and works fine but not through the engine ECU.

Tuner has been very helpful and I have no reason to doubt him. He says its a compatibility or config issue and not a mapping issue but I have tried every diagbox config, replacement part, adding and removing FAP from BSI and engine configs but nothing works.

The hardware and software numbers match perfectly on new and old ecu:
0281013332
9664257580

Can anyone shed some light onto why these codes are still appearing when they were not present before? I have attached the bin from the new ecu and also the file from the guy who messed up the ecu that he claims is the original but I cant verify that.

Any insights would be most appreciated!

Can checksums affect the likes of the additive pump, I thought the car wouldn't even start if they were wrong  maybe showing my inexperience!

I will test in the morning, thanks!

wrong checksum can affect the car from starting and showing also fault codes but right now the file its ok the car should start normal just clear the fault codes and upload and drive the car for a test

I'm afraid that didn't fix it, still the same faults coming up

Your original software is not original. It is EGR & DPF OFF with deleting almost all errors in the ECU. This is why you did not had any errors with this file. :D

Your MOD file from the other tuner is actually other Software number for the same ECU. Your respected tuner did not bother to fix your file but he sent you other file with EGR & DPF OFF.

In the MOD file:
EGR OFF is OK but it can be made better.
DPF OFF is OK he made an overkill deleting everything.
Only mistake is P1434 - Open circuit additive pump motor error is still active in the software.

Heater throttle delete is NOT OK.
P2121 & P1152 - for air heater throttle position copy signal errors are still active in the software.
Your tuner made few mistakes when he tried do disable/delete the heater throttle.

Also the tuner did not delete the codes properly. He deleted the codes not the clases and timers that are needed to disable the code. Just deleting error codes will not disable the system.

You are losing your time with config, replacement part, adding and removing FAP from BSI and engine.

It is 100% mapping issue.
