Bmw 330D

Postby Dsmoke » Thu Oct 04, 2012 10:32 pm

So I have found following maps. Ecu is DDE 4.0. I will add HW and SW numbers when I get it out.

Svbl
"Boost limit"
"Boost map"
Svrpl
"Rail pressure map"
Three different "driver wish" maps
Three different "smoke delimitation" maps
Torque limiter
Gear dependent torque limiter?

Questions is, what else do I need for basic tune, when you want to do good file?
Do you need to change all of driver wish maps or is the last one enough (driver wish upper)? contradictory information from different forums...
What is the highest IQ for this? I mean what approx. needed when you want to take out like 220hp.

Thanks and sorry! :D

1st fuel does not give you power...fuel gives you torque.
Torque is directly proportional to fuel injected...more or less.
So the right question is ...how much torque do I get per quantity of fuel.

Working backwards....hp depends on torque vs rpm.
bhp * 5252 / rpm = torque lb.ft
So how much hp vs fuel depends on the engine rpm to find the required torque and thus fuel

Thanks!

So when look cars specifics there are 390nm (=~287 lb ft)/1750rpm
-> torq. limit. map says eg. 1750rpm->69mm^3 IQ
so (69/390)*500 IQ should be 92mm^3 to get 500nm
and if we want to get bhp now, then 500=~369 lb ft-> (369*1750)/5252=123 bhp/1750rpm

I got no idea how to calculate max bhp, if it is even possible without dynometer. I think when you compare to old specific. it should be something like ~220bhp

This all depends from old specification, but how can you calculate torq straight from IQ?

AFAIK there is no accurate way to calculate torque from IQ. There is a quick and dirty way.... you know 69IQ = 287lb/ft of torque.

So:

Constant = Torque (in lb/ft) / IQ = 4.159420289855072

So now you can use:

Torque (in lb/ft) = IQ * Constant

This is not accurate and is a VERY rough guide.... can be upto 10-20 lb/ft out in some places.

Ok so now you have your torque, you can find out the power from RPM and IQ.

Power (BHP) = Torque * RPM / 5252

If you do this for your whole torque limiter, you will see where you reach maximum power (normally around 4,000 RPM for a diesel) and how much roughly it is.

Using these rough formulas the max power on my car is 10bhp out, so dont swear by them.

If you want reall accuracy you need a BSFC vs RPM table.

Diesels can range from 0.38-0.34 lb hp hr.
lb of fuel required per hp per hour

hp x ((bsfc / 60) x afr) = MAF (lb/min)
200hp x ((0.38/60) x 18) = 22.8 lb/min
Note the lack of rpm....but we do need it for the lb/min part

So you can work backwards starting with mg/str or mm3/str and rpm
Lets say 200hp @ 4000 rpm = 262.6 lb ft = 356nm

22.8 lb/min MAF @ 4000rpm = 1292 mg/str air
1292 / 18 = 71.77mg/str fuel = 356nm

Obviously if you are using mm3 then 71.77mg is app. 86mm3

Note this is 4 cylinder with 2x power stoke per rpm.
6 cylinder would have 3x power stroke and would require 66% of the fuel per stroke

Ok, I check from the WinOls my torq. delimination maps what is the IQ around the 1750 rpm. I belive max IQ in the 1750rpm is 61mm^3
So that we need to get 390nm. Constan = 61mm^3/390nm=0.1564...
If we want to get out 500nm/1750rpm IQ what we need is 0.1564...*500 = 78.2mm^3 That is the rought way, I don't know where can find BSFC...

And the Air mass what we need for the correct burning comes--->

Car engine size is 2926cm^3 it have 6 cylinder so one cylinder can take in normal sealevel atmosphere pressure (~1000mbar)
2926/6 = 487.67 cm^3 air weight is something 1-1.2 mg/cm^3? So in normal air pressure it takes 487.67 mg of air. Good burnig needs roughly 18mg of air per 1mm^3 of diesel? (In smoke map it's something beetween 17.5-20mg) Air mass what we need is 78.2mm^3*18 = 1407.6mg. So then we need to increase boost pressure to (1407.6/487.67 = 2.8863...) 2886mbar absolut pressure to burn correct 78.2mm^3 diesel.

Am I right?

Good burning clean is 18:1 ~ 22:1 by mass....not volume.
Some tuners run 17:1 by mass....depending on smoke.

Be careful with your figures.
The BMW edc16c31 uses mg for everything except the duration tables (mm3).
Check you are using mm3 in your ecu

But generally yes a rough guide if you want 2x more torque and add 2x more fuel you will 2x more boost.
Check how much boost you are running for your current fuel and lambda.
See if that follow your boost calculations.

Probably run the turbo straight into surge and destroy it though...trying to get 3 bar at 1750rpm

390nm @ 1750rpm = (390 * 0.7376) * 1750 / 5252 = 95.85 bhp

61mm3 = 50.83mg (depending on fuel temp)
(50.83 * 3 * 1750) * (2.206 / 1000000) = 0.588687645 lb fuel per minute = 35.32 lb/hr

35.32 / 95.85 = 0.368 lb hp hr BSFC (61mm3 390nm 1750rpm)

Need to do some data logging and get back, when I know what is really my car max IQ at the moment. After it I can start calculating other things... There is 4-5 different torq limiter, makes things little bit harder...

the nm to iq table on edc16c31 and c35 bmw are you sure that is mg and not mm3?
because stock 335d for example inject for 590nm about 70mg :wtf: is it possible?
