406 HDi SOI

Postby ross2482 » Sat Nov 17, 2012 6:09 pm

Hey everyone,

Quickquery regarding the SOI (Start of injection) in my 406 HDi 2.0(EDC15C2).
I believe I've found all of the SOI tables and their axis and have modified them for my tune. However, PP2000 is not reporting anything over 20 degrees BTDC at 4000rpm.
Below is my SOI table (Other tables in file are set the same). As you can see I've rescaled all of the IQ axis.

So what am I missing? Is there ome sort of limiter that I've missed preventing the SOI going above 20 degrees? I've found one limiter but this is set to 30 degrees throughout and so it cannot be this....
My IQ at 4000rpm is 62.5mm3, which as you can see from the map is about 25 degrees BTDC.

My ECU file is here - This is a tune file btw.

Yep, IQ and boost are as requested in the maps. Just can't get my head around this! :(

Hmm,

Well I think this is because I've altered the axis on the advance map to take into account IQ up to 75mm3.
Looking at the hexdump, there are axis at the beginning of each map section (6xxxx and 7xxxx) for the IQ and these are the axis I have altered. They are used on injection advance maps (SOI) and rail pressure maps and assorted others. (Address: 71086 and 7104E)
Inbetween these 16 value axis are 2x 8 value axis, which use the same signature bits as the 16 value axis. I havent altered these and they only seem to go to 50mm3. However, I cannot find which maps reference these axis, hence I havent touched them. I'm wondering if this is the problem....

Looking at the hexdump just leaves more question s really. The odd thing is I have modified the pre-injection advance and that seems to be working fine according to PP2000, just the injection advance (SOI) which isnt. Most odd. :?

One thought - Is there a SOI limiter based on fuel temp \ coolant temp or something that I'm missing I wonder? At the time of logging with PP2000, coolant temp was 80 degrees C and fuel temp about 30 degrees C.

Thanks - I'll check my file when I get home later.
Is this the limiter that is set to 30 degrees BTDC throughout the map?

Ah ha!! Found this at the location you suggested redeye - The values make perfect sense. Ignore the X-axis (I presume RPM) as I havent found the correct axis for this yet.
SOI Limiter.JPG

You can see I have rescaled the IQ axis in this file, which has had the effect of retarding the SOI as I hadn't found this map to adjust. I'll try it out and report back....

Thanks guys :)
