3 post rule..and a bit of waffling!

Postby Storm Chaser » Fri Oct 17, 2014 1:56 pm

Hello, I have just signed up to the forum and one of the first things I have noticed is the maturity of the members and for that I would suggest you all give yourselves a pat on the back. With most if not all forums I have been a part of the new members questions that get asked is normally flamed by 'use the search button' and whatnot but here things are different and thats a good thing. Like many, I am not adverse to the concept of remapping and have done work on standalone management systems but I am now getting in to the realms of wanting to learn about writing my own files as I have been asked to do some work for someone with a particular model that only CMD could cater for so now I have a CMD master and WinOls and now the learning process begins. However, I think the 3 post rule for me at least seems to herd people in to posting 3 posts for the sake of it when perhaps these are not of a constructive nature and adds excess to what is otherwise a very useful and informative postI just think that a post in the welcome area about where they are and what they would like to get from being in this community would be more beneficial?

I completely agree with Storm Chaser. I'm newbie here (with chip tuning), and almoust all information here is new for me. So, instead of reading and investigating this information, I must think where to write thiese mandatory 3 posts to gain ability for reading attached files in this forum. Ofcourse, I have a lot of questions now, but it would be stupid questions about base things. After I analyse all the information I can find here, I will have some clever questions.

I totaly agree with you guys. I am also new here and I think this is a great forum, but this rule is contraproductive in my opinion. Would make things much easier for begginers without it.

hi,
this is from direct point of view, but if we look it deeper...most of users come to register and only download things without any contribution. Taking must also provide giving.

So:
1. post is introduce,
2. post one contribution - any kind of contribution without crap
3. post question what you ask for...

number 1 and 3 are obvious, nuber 2 is something that you show some will to cooperate...

that is not so hard and shows some will to contribute as well. Guys who do not contribute and only take, do not help the community at all.
Also most of guys are only selling things, which is also not positive for community.

Another method insted of that method would be invitation. So registration not possible without invitation. Anyway,
this solution is better. Always have to look from 2 different point of view :-)

Guys,
Do not exaggerate. 3 posts are not so difficult to write. I tottly agree with ecuedit that this is a better way than registration only with an invitation.
