Hello

Is this car equipped with DPF?
I am just wondering in the regeneration mode. Is it right to delete the EGR in a car with DPF?

Thanks,

without egr the exhaust temperature are higher, is this not better for passive regeneration

I heard it many times - that egr off should come together with dpf off - and to be honest I really don't understand why.. EGR is not related in any way to DPF in software.. Additionally without EGR there's no lag in fresh air delivery, so fuel is burned in the bether way = less carbon residues = less soot = longer life-time for dpf..

Some good points here...
EGR-Off = Higher EGT's
Higher EGT's = more chance of successful regen of DPF.

EGR-Off = Exhaust Gasses going directly through DPF (No Recirculation)
EGR-Off = Cleaner exhaust gasses (but how much cleaner?)

I think the problem with the DPF system is that people do not understand it properly and switch the engine off when car is still requiring a regeneration, because they think there is a problem - or because their journey has come to an end and they see no reason to continue driving on a motorway.

So even if EGR-Off = Higher EGT's, this will only benefit "some" knowledgeable people who have DPF cars and understand about regens.

Switching EGR-off may bring more fresh air and burn better but you will already have carbon build up inside the engine and eventually this will cause more soot to be collected by the DPF (not less) and I think DPF will block up even quicker. It is safer to remove the DPF all together at the same time.

I have to agree whit Enthusiast, I have switched off many egr valves in this 1.9 engines with dpf left and I notes only positive comments. There is no issue whit the dpf.
