Working on kia sportage ecu

Postby rocoboi16v » Thu Sep 04, 2014 4:13 am

New guy here, trying to disassemble this Kia sportage ECU so i can tune my mazda pickup hopefully, Eventually it's probably going to get the turbo so i can go fast.

Bosch ECU part no 0261206998

Anyone have any idea whats going on with it? I desoldered the chip and have a bin file. I found some stuff that looks like maps but the header info doesnt make any sense and I am realizing its a far cry from the motronic 2.9 system I have been working on for my nephews turbo car.

Any help would be appreciated. Searches turn up nearly nothing. I can send bins to whoever through email.

So I just happened to find a thread about motronic 2.8 and the difficulties tuning it when searching for the model number of the microcontroller in the ecu, its a SAF-C509-LM

From what I gleaned last night in my sleepy state is that the "ram" area of the controller actually has map data stored on it and it references the rom chip for stuff. Sounds almost like it has the map header info on the controller and then the map data is somehow strored on the rom?

I dont know, I guess I need to figure out how to read whatever is in the ram area of the controller, I don't know where to begin with this, I've checked out some BMW stuff and people use obd2 cables with pass thru ability to access the controller directly though OBD2 but I dont know where to begin with it.

Guess I will wait for the emulation header to get here and then see if the ostrich can sort some stuff out for me with map tracing unless someone has ideas.
