Which data should be checked in logs?

Postby William06 » Sun Jul 26, 2026 8:50 am

Hello,

After the reprogramming, which data should be monitored in the logs to verify that the changes were made correctly?

I believe the most important thing is the AFR, so you need
- specified and actual MAF
- IQ
- specified and actual MAP.
- RPM

Is it enough ?

I don't have an EGT sensor, is there a way to tell if my mixture is causing the cylinder temperatures to rise too high ?
Or is the AFR report sufficient?

You should say about engine or mods so people can help.

Is there no general rule, regardless of the engine type?

My engine is V6 2.5 TDI 180cv
My ECU is EDC15VM+

The mods are :
- boost target
- boost limit
- Torque
- smoke limiter

Vagcom has channels, I think 3,7,11 are better.

rpm, fuel qty after limiters (real), boost desired/actual, vnt %, maf desired/actual and temps. After injection advance etc. You need fast logging refresh so test how much parameters you can log with refresh 1 sec or faster.

AFR is basic to check but EGT could be high even with good AFR, depend on car, anyway with good AFR +16 and short pulls EGT should be safe.

Here are some logs I generated this morning :

And here are logs from last week.
https://zupimages.net/viewer.php?id=26/30/iks1.jpg

The problem is that I notice a brief drop in boost pressure around 2,000 rpm, and power decreases above that engine speed, even though the turbo picks up again.
I checked the turbo control hoses this morning and repaired the cracked ones. It didn't change anything.

I noticed that the IQ values are the same as those of the Torque Limiter.
Does that mean not enough air is getting into the engine?
The atmospheric pressure recorded by the ECU is 887.4 mbar.

Here's my torque map :

Could someone help me find the problem?

Logs are too laggy, anyway first issue is overboost around 2000 rpm, PID and bad boost. Try to reduce torque at 2000 rpm or work better VNT maps, when not big overboost and VNT working smooth you can recheck MAF and boost.
Your atmospheric pressure is low, so torque is limited.
@3000 rpm IQ injected is 59 as IQ MAF but before 51 because overboost PID correction.

I reduced the torque map as advised, as well as the smoke limitation maps, in order to stay within the AFR recommendations.
I also went back to the Wish map to get a more linear request flow.

The problem is that the previous owner messed up the ECU maps.
I'm trying to rework them to improve them, but since it's my first time doing this, it's not easy...

One thing strikes me: my Boost Limit map caps out at 2500 mbar, yet I have a target of 2570—or even 2600—in the logs. Could it be that my ECU isn't taking the Boost Limit map into account?

Maybe your forgot any boost limiter or tune rise up them, there are maps to add or rest mbar to main request depend on any conditions.
