Hey Guys!
I own an E92 330D 2007/03 (231hp 500NM) and I am looking to remove my DPF and I have never flashed a car's EEPROM before.
I spent allot of hours of research on google however I still did not manage to come to some clear answers.
I was hoping that you guys could help me out with some questions:
1. To be able to fully read and write my car's ECU I would need Kess v2 or Galleto v52-v54.
Is this true? My last findings are that only Kess v2 (clone) will work
2. My car can either be EDC16, either EDC17. If 1st option, Kess v2 will be able to write straight through OBD2 port; if EDC17 I will need to use some wires (where? do i need to take out ecu and solder things on it?).
How can I find out what ECU I have? What data cable would I need for diagnostics, I.E. running BMW ICOM? Is this separate a separate "cable"/"dongle" or can Kess V2 do this aswell?
3. In case I manage to damage my ECU via OBD2 writing - it is my understanding that I could then use a BDM flasher and write the backed up EEPROM straight to it. I saw that there are special BDM frames (I.E. on the ECUBAY.com site) - will this frames work with a Kess v2 clone?
4. What is the cheapest way for me to be able to have FULL read/write access to my car's ECU file(s) ?
5. I have read somewhere that some EEPROM's come "locked" and need special unlock. Is this the case for my car?
Thanks allot in advance for clearing this up for me. Cheers!
