Tip on bricked ecu MB EDC16

Postby McTallman » Tue Apr 16, 2013 12:45 am

Hi,

This is how I did it when I bricked my ecu in my mb w221 320 cdi EDC16 after a failed flash and no full backup of ecu with bdm or others. All I used was an old IBM T30 with Das istalled on it and a c3 mux.

Leave ignition on. Disconnect the program tool you have flashed with. Connect c3 mux and start up DAS. Go to engine module and choose to upgrade software in ecu IN OFFLINE MODE. Let DAS finalise the programming of ecu. If it asks for SCN-coding, skip this. Switch off ignition, switch it on again, start engine----- Voilaa, the engine starts and everything is back to normal.

I do not know if this was just luck or what, but it fixed my bricked ecu

Everything depends of luck .
Once I was flashing BMW using SSS and it bricked the ECU there was no way how to flash it by BMW
system nor MPPS and any tool I've got .
I was going to do it on labtool and I found old galletto cable which was absolutely spot on with this job.

Dear McTallman,

what was the problem with the flash?

I am going to flash a w211 with an MPPS v12 Clone, and Ive got the feeling that I need to be well prepared for this act...

At least I got a Star Diagnosis as well, like you, with the c3 connector.
