Hi guys!
I'm new here and would very much like to learn how to work, read/write and especially correctly modify ECU-s.
After a certain period of time, I'd be insanely happy if i could edit my own ecu and make my old BMW diesel a bit more fun to drive :)

A few years have passed and i have learned a lot more about internal combustion engines. Graduated from mechanical engineering and did a diploma thesis on "individually variable" valvetrain systems (Otto and Diesel engines of course) running some simulations etc. I still don't know as much as i would want to about flashing ECU-s and editing the Table values. Thanks to my education profile i should be capable of doing the maths when calculating required injection quantities, estimations of massflow etc. I am on the other hand lacking knowledge in the IT and electronics field. I'm currently working on a BMW M57 project/swap and since i have done the majority of work myself, i would also like to do the tuning. I have plenty of spare parts on the shelf therefore i am prepared to risk them "in the name of science". So far i know i'll be working on a Bosch EDC 15. I own a simple ebay Mpps cable to write/read the ECU but as much as i know it is not working (cheap & old hardware & software version).

Is there any cheap combination of software/hardware available for individual use? It should work with edc 15 and it does not have to be compatible with newer ones. I am not thinking about spending a lot of money on Kess or Ktag. It's just too much for a one time use.

Best regards
