Store several tunes in EDC15 at once?

Postby Lindahl » Thu Dec 18, 2014 1:30 pm

Hi

I know that it is possible to store several tunes (3 at least) in the EDC15, like an optimized tune, a stock tune and a mot tune, and that it is then possible to switch between the tunes using for instance VCDS (on VAG cars). I also know that this option isn´t possible on newer ECU´s like the EDC16, so I guess it has something to do with the hw and not the sw per se.
Has anybody in here experimented with this particular function/possibility?

Yes it is possible. Usually 2 banks of data one for manual, one for auto. Switch between with vcds. However, if you are going to the bother of plugging vcds in you may as well just reflash IMO.

Thanks - you actually do have a point, but I just feel a lot more confident when using VCDS in contrast to using a MPPS cable, and I´m yet to hear about anobody bricking their ECU when using VCDS (not saying it is not possible though) :)

Flashing takes more time and its a bit unstable than switching in vcds.

You need some knowledge in electronics. The point is by switching 1 address you can change all eeprom what ecu sees. This is possible because 29F800 are 2 times bigger but still in same size. Just 29F400 dont use one pin what 29F800 does.

Are you saying that it is possible to switch the diferent tuned maps by a simple switch?

I would love to learn more about it

Thanks
