Hi all,
I've almost finished a Stage 1 for my M57 swap into an E46 and before I flash it I'd like some experienced opinions. Any criticism welcome.
Hardware:
Chassis: E46 sedan (was a 320d)
Engine: M57TUD30 218hp from an X5
ECU: Bosch EDC16C31, SW 1037361842
Gearbox: original 320d 5-speed manual
Turbo: stock X5 (GT2260V)
Injectors: stock
Intercooler: oversized (upgraded)
Intake: stock
Exhaust: straight pipe (no cat, no DPF)
EGR: physically deleted
What I've modified in software:
Air / turbo
Boost target: peak 2550 mbar absolute. Stock peak was 2340 mbar.
Boost limit and SVBL: raised consistently with the new target
N75 duty: VTG opened at idle only (rest of the map stock)
Injection
Duration map (not global, by zones):
+9% at IQ 57.5–65 mg
+11% at IQ 67.5–85 mg
+9% at rail 400 bar × IQ 57.5–85 mg zone
Nm to IQ: cap col 550 Nm at 75 mg in plateau (2000–4000 RPM)
IQ Limiter / IQ LIMIT: raised consistently
Rail pressure peak: 1680 bar (stock 1600)
SOI 1–4: advance +8.8% only in the zone RPM ≥ 2000 AND IQ ≥ 50 mg (rest stock, low RPM untouched)
Lambda correction 1–4: adjusted
Torque
Driver Wish 1 and 2: adjusted
Torque Limiter 1, 2, 3, Neutral, Gear 1–8: raised so they don't cut before the desired ceiling
Rev limiter: 4600 RPM (row 4601 set to 0 in Torque Limiter Neutral)
What I have NOT touched:
Pilot SOI
Pre-glow
Idle (except the N75 geometry mentioned above)
MAP/MAF switch (kept as stock)
Fuel temp limiter
Questions:
Does this look like a reasonable Stage 1 for daily use? Normal driving, occasional spirited driving, no towing, no track.
Tiered Duration (+9% / +11% depending on IQ and rail zone) — does the idea of not applying the same % across the whole map make sense to you, or do you do it differently?
SOI +8.8% restricted to RPM ≥ 2000 × IQ ≥ 50 mg (leaving low RPM and part-load stock) — is that the right zone, or should the thresholds move?
Boost target peak 2550 mbar with stock GT2260V + oversized intercooler — is there headroom or am I already at the stock turbo ceiling?
Rail 1680 bar — should I stay here or is there safe headroom?
Anything obvious I'm missing? Either for safety or for performance left on the table.
