I would suggest making a mobile app for the forum (as clubtouareg) for example.
It's a lot easier to read on a mobile device

Not especially a mobile app, but you could search for some responsive plugin for phpbb (take example from clubopel.com that is using phpbb too). is very hard to read posts from phone, even on landscape mode.

Also, on "introduce yourself" i think should work some rules. Most of users say something like "hello from blabla", but nothing about what car owns, what cars tuned before or knowledge level.
