reading an ecu

Postby MemberECU » Mon Apr 06, 2026 12:48 pm

Hello

I have a question regarding ECU compatibility (with AutoTuner or others)

I have a vehicle for which I would like to read and write the ECU, but this specific vehicle model is not listed as supported by my tool. However, the ECU itself is supported by AutoTuner on other vehicles.

In this situation, would it be possible to select a different vehicle in AutoTuner that uses the same ECU, and then proceed with reading and writing?

Would this method work safely, or is there a risk of issues or incompatibility?

Try reading using the ECU details not the car details, if it reads ok then it should write ok.
