Rate My Rail-Pressure Map

Today I try to make the rail pressure up to 1400.

I know this is a very small change, but small change is better than a big change when you dont know much about what your doing...!
- Green (reduced values) are just to round the numbers. They are not significant.
- SVRPL values all adjusted to 1400 except diagnostic & SVRPL 5 which are 1500
- Rail Pressure Limiter map adjusted (simple)

I just want to know:

1 - Is this map UNSAFE or would it create adverse affects?

2 - I now need to edit SOI. As the pressure is higher, the injection-time is decreased, so I need to use the SOI calculator to slightly adjust SOI. Is this statement correct?

Also as a side note, I am still struggling very much to find out which are the correct axis for SOI and rail pressure. If anyone has found these axis, if you could give me some points (hints/tips are very welcome, I don't expect everything done for me). I already found there are two sets of 16x16 IQxRPM axis at the beginning of the map area, but knowing which set of axis are for which map I seriously cannot work out...

Hi there.
First set up your factors for the map. You have values like 14000 this should be 1400 --> factor 0,1.

SVRPL values are too close to desired rail pressure.

Show the difference in map it is easier to look how much you increased pressure. You have a button difference (look picture),
than i can help you more about values.

You are correct about the axis, they are at the beginning of the map area, they should be the same so do not bother for which map is the axis.

Thanks for the tip with the Axis. They were annoying and this also solves my SOI problem.

I picked the most suitable one from the table.

Here are the differences.

My thinking is that more pressure when IQ is high is good. But not more pressure constantly or it will put unnecessary strain on the pump (so instead of doing a blanket +50 I 'tried' to implement the higher pressure at high IQ with a steady curved increase)

Hi, this is safe but wont affect a lot of difference...would go higher...
Nice thing is you increased it in curve, you wont have problems.

Thanks for the response. I been thinking about this some more today.

Would having an increase across the mid-range of IQs help to improve MPG or would it be pointless?

To improve MPG think about good SOI map.
Good mpg is achieved with complete good tune.
It comes one with another.

About rail you are at the good direction, try to test a little bit. Try to drive and see IQs when you drive normal and you want power,
than you will get feeling / orientation about, how your engine runs in different conditions.

Sometimes it is good to drive a little bit with your laptop and get now each other very good.
Imagine how much easier would it be to understand when you know stock driving parameters / measurements...

Incase anyone is interested:

I logged this map today. Yes, it is a VERY small change and very insignificant.

Points noted are:

- Rail Pressure very rarely maxed out. When throttle was wide open over 3000 RPM It would sit at 1388 for a while and then finally 1396.
- The Rail Pressure had absolutely NO 'over-shoot' or spikes. It did not once exceed 1396 BAR no matter what! (so steady curves are good)
- Most of the time in the map where I am requesting 1400 BAR are at times when IQ and RPM are very high. Look at torque limiter, this scenario very rarely occurs.

I am quite happy with the results of this educated guess. Next I will push this map a little more, and then try to adjust SOI to compensate for the increased rail pressure. Then that will do for my first map.

After my first map (which is a mess-about practice) I will start a proper one with increased IQ and Axis changes.

Just to Clarify are the Single-Value Rail Pressure Limiters as follows:

SVRPL 1 - Stock: 1350, Now: 1400 - Cannot request more than this value, but if there is a spike nothing happens.
SVRPL 2 (same as 1)
SVRPL 3 (same as 1)
SVRPL 4 (same as 1)
SVRPL 5 - Stock: 1450, Now: 1500 - This INCLUDES spikes and ANYTHING over this value means engine shut-off!
SVRPL 6 (same as 1)
SVRPL 7 (same as 1)


I just dont see why the SVRPLs (except 5) should be any higher than 1400, my max requested value, purely because this is how it is in the stock map. Please correct me if I am wrong.

First you should extend injection duration map - pressure axis. Than play with rail pressure if you go further.
If you look for nice curve you wont have problems.
