clone kess v2 bootloader question

Postby aholmes28191 » Mon Oct 08, 2018 12:28 am

hi guys quick question, i recently purchased a EU clone kess v2 and so far it works 100%, the problem is that none of the cables have any part numbers with them so i am trying to figure out what the part numbers are in comparison to the genuine tools.
the issue i have is i think according to the connection guide, the bootloader 14P600BTLR https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0948/4896/products/14P600BTLR_1024x1024.jpg?v=1442825264 is incorrect to, what i think i have, http://en.ascom.vn/pro_large/Truck-Version-KESS-V2-Manager-Tuning-Kit-1469156893.jpg . can anyone advise me on if this is the same part just a different packaging? it is the only adaptor i have and it fits the cable that is comparable to 14P600KT02.

any help would be much appreciated, thanks

I've got a KESSv2 clone as well and it came with that same very non-descript block box as per your 2nd link.
I haven't used it yet, but my understanding is that it performs the same function as the part in your first link. It allows you to connect a variety of cables the connect to the ECU, and provides a means to input a 12Vdc power supply to be able to get power to an ECU on the bench. Essentially it is an adapter to turn a KESS into a KTAG, so you can work on ECU's both in vehicle or on the bench.

If like me, you have an ECU that can only be read in 'bootloader' mode, you should have the necessary parts to be able to connect on the bench. In my case, a number of wires on certain pins of the wiring loom connectors plus a little wire soldered on to a particular solder pad inside.

Hope that helps. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
