Newbie need some help defining map axis

Postby isanfa » Sun Nov 20, 2016 12:30 am

Hi Guys.
New member here. Been reading for a while, and decided it was time to ask for your help.
I have just started learning how to find, and define maps, and I find it very interesting. However, as all beginners, a little help is appreciated.
I am working with a dump from a powersport wheichle. 1050cc, NA, 3 cylinder, 130 bhp.
I have found about 25 different maps, atleast I think so. I have a good clue about some of them.

What is the common axis for a fuel map in NA engine? TPS? manifoild pressure?

I think I have the map data figured for fueling.
I did find a dyno sheet of the engine, where it was measured to 63,6 lbs/h of fuel. That equals to 28.85 kg/h. If my math is correct, @ 9000rpm I should be looking for 36 mg/stroke of injected fuel.
What I belive is my injection base map, has me setup with 34,6@9000rpm. So that correspond pretty good with my calculated fuel flow.
The fuel map is 20x30, where 30 is the rpm axis, from 800 to 11000rpm.
The other axis, 20, is ranged from 4915-16384.
Rpm axis was easy to find, since there was no factor involved. But the other axis I am abit lost with.

Thank you.

And what are the most common methods for rev limiter? This engine has a hard cut revlimiter. Is it normally a singelvalue as limiter when it is hard cut, or is it a map?

Hi mate,
what you ask
is very vague,no info about ECU producer,ECU type, nothing, there is no universal recipe, post your ECU data, dump and maybe will get some answers.

Hi.
I am not looking for someone to do the job for me, just to have that clear. I am making my own small steps, thats why my question are in general. If I got answer that is spot on, then I would not learn how to look for it, and find it on my own.

As about the Ecu, it is a continental easy U1. It is from the Synerjet series.

Hi mate, just take a look on your dump.
I think the map which make reference is not fuel map,is Maximum Average engine torque.Indeed in one axis you have RPM and other axis is Throttle angle. But not with axis 4915-16384 values-mean address 21FE6, must use for X axis address 21A5C, and factor 0,001690,units throttle angle degrees.
For fueling is used values from Intake manifold pressure sensor, by adding to the injector pulsewidth or subtracting from the injector pulsewidth. So main fuel map is not what you think.Anyway is only my opinion, can be wrong.
Anyway, maybe this ols file will help you.
WinOLS (3708.ols (Original) - ).rar

Thank you for the effort you have put into it. I have looked at it as you describes, but what you think is the nm axis does not add up for my engine.
My engine produce over 110nm, but the axis as described only goes to around 80nm. I have some doubt about that beeing correct.
I also have another one who looked at the file, who says 24DEA is 12x30 igniton map. I dont understand by looking at it how that can be. I dont get the numbers to add up. To me it seems to be a 6x30 map. What am I missing here?

Still looking for help with this. I have found 6 ignition maps, which seems to be the only 6. But I am still struggling to define the axis.
How do I search for the correct axis definitions? And can the axis be in 16 bit, while the map is in 8 bit?
