edc15 reading problem

Postby jpderv » Wed May 15, 2013 8:18 pm

hi folks have been mapping cars for friends for quite a wile now and have come across some issues on some cars.

i use kwp2000 and on 99% of cars over year 2k it has no problem you just have to remove the fuse for the instrument cluster and away you go.

recently ive had a few mates with passats that were looking some tuning work done but no matter what fuse i try i cant seem to turn the dash off thus can not read the ecu the cars in question were 01 pd100 02 pd130 and 03 pd115 neither of which could read because i couldnt turn off the instrument cluster.

is there anyway around this? is there any year of passat that can be done this way?

are there anyother cars that are the same as this skoda superb octavia etc thanks:")

I have read that Passats are generally a problem and that remapping is best done by removing the ECU and remapping on the bench, however if it really is just the dash that is the problem, why not just remove it and replace once remapped? It only takes about 10 minutes to take out the clocks. incredibly easy to do once you have done it once....

On my Polo PD100 I also sometimes struggle to flash with KWP2000 and had to remove 2 fuses. Since then moved on to the MPPS. But unplugging the instrument cluster should also do the trick.

I'm reading/programming the EDC15 ecus on the bench, just to be on the safe side.
