VP37 EDC15 tuning guide

Postby nexus665 » Sun May 19, 2013 10:20 pm

Hi,

I've learned a lot from this and other tuning-related websites and decided to put some of this information into a guide.

This guide is centered on VP37/EDC15VM+ cars, but many concepts like linearisation, diagnostic extension, IQ limits and such are applicable 1:1 on PD cars.

It also contains a section that deals with hardware changes - what's necessary to reach what power level, stock hardware limits (for VAG 1.9 TDI cars), original files, damos, and many other things.

However, it is not a guide to copy/paste from - you'll have to think for yourself :)

After all, it's supposed to make you learn something!

The guide isn't 100% finished, nor will it ever be - there's always more info to be gained or included. I'll keep this thread updated when I release a new version.

Comments, corrections and additions are very welcome!

BTW, you can also find the ori file the guide is based on along with a cheat sheet (all map addresses) in this thread here on ecuedit.

Kind regards

Changes/fixes

Hope you managed to download it on your own, it's not THAT difficult ;)

In any case, I've corrected some mistakes about MAF-based smoke limiting as well as added new info about temperature-based IQ and smoke limiting, which can be very useful.

Also worked in some more information about turbos, actually links to the turbo guides by Garrett which I very much recommend.

At this point, I've researched and found out pretty much all I wanted to about VP37 cars (or know about so far) - so if anyone has questions or other interesting things to figure out, don't hesitate to ask.

@ Nexus:

Your guide seems to be very helpful if someone is new in ECU tuning (like me :)). Since I am reading about EDC15 now to get familiar with, i saw that there are some types of EDC15 version, namely:

- BoschEDC15P (should be Pumpe-Düse?)
- Bosch EDC15V
- Bosch EDC15VM
- Bosch EDC15VM-1 M

Could someone explain the differences? Are there different maps concerning the above mentioned versions or is there no difference in ECU tuning?

Thx!

Hi,

thanks!

The EDC15V/VM/VM+ are for VP diesels, the EDC15P is for Pumpe-Düse diesels.

Then there are EDC15C versions for common-rail diesels, as well ;)

Basically, they are not that different in regards to maps and layout, but are different in hardware in some ways.
