Your interface is original or Chinese ?
If it's chinese then the higher update you can reach is 5.29 unless you reflash it
Versions higher then 5.29 needs an origial interface

Cheers.

Hi, I bought a Diagnostic Interface Tool For Citroen & Peugeot from ebay.
How can you tell if it is original or cloned?
Could a cloned one damage anything in my ECU?

I just bought a Peugeot 407 1.6 HDI Estate and after changing turbo and cleaning the engine with oil and diesel additives it doesn't start anymore  . I hope this kit will hep me find what's wrong without damaging anything.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Ovid

It's a clone. If it was genuine, you wouldn't ask.

I only found out about these things yesterday as my car it's not working properly and after reading on some forums I saw some people writing about them but I don't know how to identify them.
I bought it from a business seller on ebay, it says it's new and it wasn't cheap that is why I'm asking.
Most importantly I don't want to damage anything.

Anyway after reading some more it looks like the diagnostic software does just that and only clears errors so it doesn't change any function in the ECU.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
It's should arrive tomorrow and I hope everything will work!

You are correct. Diagnostic interfaces don't modify the ECU software, it only reads parameters, DTCs, erases DTCs, can do some actuator tests, adaptations, coding and a bit more stuff, while programming interfaces can read and write whole software from and to the ECU.

I have had the Lexia/PP system (from ebay) for a few years now and it will read and clear all faults the same as the Dealer setup, it will change some parameters/options and read real time info but will not edit the ECU directly.

Very good system for fault diagnosis but CANNOT do things like remove the DPF etc.
