Peugeot 407 2.2 HDi 170

All about how to remove FAP and DPF filters

Peugeot 407 2.2 HDi 170

Postby rwb » Wed Oct 16, 2013 9:16 pm

Hi,

I'm collecting a Peugeot 407 2.2 HDi 170 this weekend, and already looking forward to getting it mapped -- though the soonest it can be done is March. The priority is getting the DPF deleted. In the mean time I want to understand what's needed and get my plan of action together.

Obviously, the basic process is: get the map off the car, get a new map, put it on the car.
But more specifically?!
I believe the Siemens SID801 in my 406 has to be physically removed, and that's something I'm definitely not doing myself.
What are the options here? I'd be more comfortable with a pro doing it.

I hear varying things about maps used by tuning companies, but nothing but praise for editecu. That's why I'm here now rather than just turning up at the nearest tuning company. Am I right?

Finally, does anyone have experience actually smashing out the DPF on one of these?

Any pointers in the right direction greatly appreciated.
Ta,
rwb.

Would the fuel consumption be lower without the Filter? What are further advantages?

Marginally because reduced resistance in the exhaust, and a bit more because the regen process runs rich.

According to PP2000 there is enough fluid left for about 18 months...

Had a good day on the rolling road today: 180 hp at 4000 rpm and 290ftlb (393Nm) at 2450rpm. (Manufacturer: 370Nm at 1500rpm but measured 290Nm.)

And it's as it left the factory minus 6 years of relatively careless ownership!
So that's 5% extra free :D

Graph to follow.

There's more than enough power to keep me happy, but the economy is embarrassing compared to the HDi 90 406
So I think that economy is my main objective of a remap (after the DPF).
