Hey!
warning - newb here
Car is BMW 330D E92 231hp 170kw 500nm 2007/03

I have read the ECU file via my Galletto 54 clone (select driver > bmw > serie 3 > 2.0/3.D Bosch EDC16C35 (not *CAN option) > ok > read file ).
I want to use binnector.com to remove DPF but I am unclear on some things:
- unsure if to select option "Turn FAP OFF EDC16CP35 BMW" - from what I have read I have 16C35 (not 16CP35)? WinOLS said CP35  How can you guys check this anyway, and know what car has what ECU exactly?

- i have opened file with WinOLS and it said No checksum - does this mean my ECU has been previously coded?

- i am afraid of writing new flash - I have read somewhere that I need to do nothing to the car or the IMMO will desync. Can I drive the car after I read flash or do I need to do nothing to car (not even lock it?) and send the file, wait for new file, write it back?

I have uploaded the read file - maybe you guys can tell me if everything is ok.

Thanks!

Your ECU is EDC16CP35.
You can check that inside the binary with suitable editing software - check attachment photo...it is exactly from your file.

You can upload the file and binnector will do its job, if the job can not be done 100% properly,
it will report that it can not modify the file..simple.

But after downloading modified file, you have to checksum that file.
File can be checksumed via flasher or software for editing the binary.

You can brick the ECU if you flash it with bad flasher, if you forget to checksum the file,
if something interrupts flashing procedure or bunch of other things.

Thank you for replying ecuedit! :)

I know I can brick it :)
Would you or someone else please be so kind and answer the following questions?

1. If I brick ECU via OBD can I reflash my (OBD) backup/ori file via BDM?

2. Can I drive / use the car after I read ECU (BEFORE writing back to it) Apparently the answer to this is yes, but I am afraid of IMMO (immobiliser?) codes changing?
___ 2.b. Do I need to previously run a successful regen of my DPF? It is clogged but I read somewhere that if successful regen is not run prior to flashing DPF off software, car will make smoke at idle.

3. How can I repair checksum? (i know what checksum means but I do not know what checksum type is used in cars - i assume it is whole file checksum / what address is it located at?) Any guide to this would be greatly appreciated.
___3.b. I found out that the 16bit checksum of my file is B4F2 DFDD and 8bit checksum is 1CE4 CAA7. Galletto software reporting checksum CAA7 only. Which checksums need to match?

4. How did you use word mode on WinOLS? I found out with a hex compare tool that indeed my ECU is EDC16CP35 but in WinOLS I have bars instead of text to the right of the hex values.

I have downloaded the DPF off file for an BMW EDC16CP35.

hi,
you have to know at least the basic of how to successfully read,
write and correct checksums for files.

For downloaded file, correct checksum with flasher or winols or ecm titanium...
checksum has to be corrected.

you can repair your ecu if you brick it if you have full bdm backup in case you do not have it,
than work is painful to make new files manually...

website is for editing files, rest of work has to be done by operator who reads and writes the ecu - that's why the price is so low.

;) sorry for quick answer, having troubles with time lately.

1. If I brick ECU via OBD can I reflash my (OBD) backup/ori file via BDM?

No you can not. You must have good working BDM read and patch the 2 files together.

2. Can I drive / use the car after I read ECU (BEFORE writing back to it) Apparently the answer to this is yes, but I am afraid of IMMO (immobiliser?) codes changing?

Yes you can. The IMMO is not part of the flash.

2.b. Do I need to previously run a successful regen of my DPF?

No there is no need to previously run a successful regeneration of DPF. You must remove the DPF from the engine when DPF OFF software is used.

3. How can I repair checksum? (i know what checksum means but I do not know what checksum type is used in cars - i assume it is whole file checksum / what address is it located at?) Any guide to this would be greatly appreciated.

The flasher can correct the checksum of the file. This files use very complex checksums so you can not correct them.

4. How did you use word mode on WinOLS? I found out with a hex compare tool that indeed my ECU is EDC16CP35 but in WinOLS I have bars instead of text to the right of the hex values.

Read the WinOls user guide and you can find the answer.
