hello everyone !

i have a question about the different tuning ways.

i understand there is:
eprom soldering
OBD tuning
on bench tuning
bdm
and tricore..

but what i dont understand is, for instance GOLF IV.
my friend has the engine 1.9PD with 116hp.
now i heard it has to be done on the bench...
but why ?

on my galletto 4 in the drivers list it shows this engine to be done via flasher (this is OBD right?).

so why do i have to do it on the bench ?

and how do i know which cars need to be done on the bench ?

Yes, even eobd galletto 1250 counterfit, but is prohibit to talk aboul clones here.

Hi,

I see it this way:
You can remap your ECU as you like NP at all :)
But, if something goes wrong and you corrupt your tuning file by OBD you need to
have the possibility to recover yor ECU and you have lost customers file...
That means you need to open ECU and desolder your flash (if it is EDC15) to renew his contend...
And you need to tell customers that his file is gone... :oops:
So on the bench is the way...
I make it this way: first read only by desoldering / BDM / Boot, this way the Probability to loose the file is small.
then I use OBD...
Of course it deepens also from your tool`s and skills...

I prefer on bench tuning. The only downside is that unless you can open up your ECU without any physically trace of breaking in, you loss your warranty. But its is faster on most cars, and you can backup the whole flash so you have a copy of your ECU which allows for recovery if anything should go wrong, you can even recover the image into another hardware should you wish.
