OEM ECU tuning procedure-Help

Postby TuningIsArt » Fri Jun 12, 2015 12:10 am

Hello guys.I have done some projects with some aftermarket ECUs but I am totally noob in OEM tuning.I will write the procedure and if I am wrong, correct me please.First we need to read ECU by using a flasher(Through OBDII or bench tuning). We get the original file of the car(if it hasnt been modified before) right? Then we use our file writing software to decode the ori file for us(locating maps). Then we can load a modified file(if we already have one to match) or we start remapping from scratch.Next,We save and encoding the modified file and we write back to ECU again by using OBDII or BDM.Is that correct? And if it is a yes, can we follow that procedure with every file tuning software.I have never used Winols and I see that many guys complain for its complexity. Is that true?Is it so much different from ECM Titanium,3D MAP cloud,SwiftTek,RACE,RoamRoaider etc?

You got it. WinOLS will search for potential maps but it won't tell what every map is. You'll have to figure out which is what.
I wouldn't put a modified file found on internet in the ECU. It's dangerous. You should always remap the file you have from your ECU.
WinOLS is not complex at all, it's like a text editor, like notepad, only it is for maps and makes life a lot easier. But you have to know what you're doing...
Some other tuning software will even tell you what every single map is, but in my experience they get many things wrong.
You don't want to put something wrong in your ECU...
IMHO WinOLS is the best.
