Noob after some help with tricore read/write

Postby automotiv » Thu Jan 03, 2019 11:48 pm

Hi,

Me and a mate are currently learning how to chip tune, at the minute just using kess v2, winols and ECM titanium.

Done some learning on a PD golf with some basic tuning.

My mate has a R56 cooper S with plenty of mods but currently has a s**t map on it, we are wanting to read the map to make some sense of where it's going wrong but more importantly get it sent off to a professional to write a better one.

Tried to read through OBD with kess but it gets a checksum error and the file is only 64kb and when opened obviously isnt right. The other option is Tricore, which brings the instructions on how to do it.

1st question... how do I know which protocol i need to use? Theres 2 options for the turbo ECU.

2nd question... will kess read/write by boot mode without any issues?

Cheers
Rich

Couldn't remember the options so just checked, I've got 2 turbo options, IROM and XROM.
