New to mapping

Postby Mjmallia » Tue Nov 11, 2014 11:54 am

Hi,

Looking to get my A4 PD130 AVF 2004 remapped and in two minds.

I have thought about getting a stage 1 Revo on it or possibly getting a cheap Blacksmoke map and having a play with the code using MPPS cable and appropriate software.

Are Blacksmoke maps safe to use as they are and a good foundation to work from....any other recommendations?

Also if I bought the Revo map can that be downloaded via MPPS etc and tweaked as heard they write in two separate locations to prevent this but could be wrong.

Any help is much appreciated.

Also can the EGR be turned off on a Revo map stage 1 map by downloading it myself?

Best thing for you to do mate is download your ori file from your car then search the rate tune section here or on ecu connections for a half decent tuned file then compare the 2 on vagsuite and then tune your own.

Until your sure what your doing try just tweeting your limiters in your file that way you can still gain power and no real harm can be done.

As for black smoke maps there ok they do give you power there a bit rough around the edges a lot can be done to improve them etc but for the price there ok.

I have an AUDI A4 B6 1.9 TDI AVF. I can help you with maps, i have more for me ( 164, 171, 179, 189, etc) HP . If the SW is same with me i can help you ( tested on my car and no smoke ). Give me more details about your ECU ID . MPPS V13.02 worked on my car ( more than 40 times ).

Thanks all.

I have a MPPS a cable with v13 software so will down load my AVF file and most probably buy a Blacksmoke one and compare the two, and throw questions back on here as they pop up.

I haven't seen the black smoke file, so you could use that to get some idea of what tuners are doing.

But I would recommend learning from files posted here (or on ecuconnections), and making your own tune.
VAGedcsuite is perfect for this end (as it supports the maps from your car pretty well).

You can always PM me if you need a clue where to start.
To be honest, at first I was a little overwhelmed too...but tuning the TDI 130hp engine is really quite simple.
You'll be running 160-170hp in no time.
