MM8GMK Spark advance strategy

Postby michass » Wed Mar 16, 2022 10:40 am

Hi,

I'm studying files similiar to my car, and trying to understand spark maps philosophy.
At bigger load/boost/efficiency and lowand midle RPM spark advance values are negative ATDC. I do some logs and i get negative values in my car too. I wonder if it is to increase turbo spool? there is depandance, when boost is bigger than request, then advance is positive, when boost is lower than request, spark is retarded ATDC.

My car Alfa Giulietta 1.4 Multiair 150HP 2018, I have damos from Fiat 124 spider also 8GMK.
I don't have my ori file.

Thanks in advance.

I'm going to continue this topic, I have an alpha that the ecu cuts turbo pressure and I don't know why, I can't blow at 1.5 up to 6500rpm

@michass boost is retarted for faster spool for high request areas. map in the picture is normal driving mode, for sport mode it should be around 8.5-10 degs for 6600 rpm & 2400 mbar (right low corner) as i remember.

@bwf , stock 1446 turbine isnt capable of that boost at high rpms. 6000 rpm @ 1.2 bar is very good for. usually i'm doing 1.1 bar @6200 rpm on these ecus and tjet with 1446 swaps.

@lvnts I have a hybrid turbo, and until the cutoff I cannot blow much more, than what you say, something is limiting me

whats the dimensions of turbo? it has small exhaust even with hybrid, you can look 4236 which is based on 1446 as you know, popular for tjets.

its still good pressure at that rpm. oem injectors are limiting factor mostly, 310 cc (which is same as abarth esseesse) are not enough over 210/220 bhp

Hello everything is fine?

Using the table above as an example.

To safely get more power using a 1446, what adjustment would you make?

Tks

HI,

I have some considerations for this ECU. I don't have ECU dump, but i do some research with similiar cars.
I want to change:

Upper limitation for upstream pressure - lot of one dimensional maps
Upstream pressure static target
Mean effective power limitation table
Table for power control normal law + sport modality
Power limit torque table
Table for base cold/hot lambda
Base spark advance in homogeneus mode
RPM/intake efficency max/min spark
Max rpm in normal condition

Maybe
throttle opening table, because in 150HP i log some closing alngles.

Its based on abarth 124 damos, maybe giulietta has more parallel maps depending on DNA switch.
