Mid-range flashing tools

Postby AugusteVilliers » Wed Feb 20, 2013 2:15 pm

Hi guys,

As a newcomer in ECU tuning, I'm quite surprised I couldn't find any 'mid-range' flashing tools yet.
Every serious device (true mpps, alientech) is 1200 € minimum, which is a bit much for a hobbyist.
On the other hand, Chinese clones are just scary as hell. I wouldn't risk my engine on a 30 € device.

Does any one of you know in-between solutions ?
I'm targeting the EDC16 ECU , and more recent VAG ECUs if possible.

Subsidiary question : Is Galletto 1260 crap safe enough for reading EDC16 ?

Best regards.

Those tools cost much because they always keep update on most new ecu,
if you need mid-range tools, you can consider Alientech Powergate II, it can
choose by car's brand & cost less, but model support not so complete as KESS v2.

Hi!

Thanks a lot for answer.

PowerGate is a very good idea, because it ensures no extra cost.

Did you try this one or amt-cartech's MPPS ?
MPPS is the same price, and covers most models.
But I don't know if specific modules must be purchased, for checksums or protocols.

Best regards.
