Mercedes Injection Quantity Limitation

Hello everyone,

I’ve been working on remapping a Mercedes A180 CDI (109hp) with EDC16C32 for maximum power. My first attempt already brought a noticeable improvement, but since then I haven’t been able to make any further gains.

I suspect something is limiting the actual injected fuel quantity. I’m requesting around 100 mm³/cycle and hitting about 1.5 bar of peak boost pressure, but the car doesn’t produce any visible smoke — which makes me think it's not actually injecting the full 100 mm³.

I’m using a damos file that matches this ECU quite well, and I’ve checked for any obvious limiters, but I couldn’t find anything conclusive. I'm definitely not an expert, but I’ve tried many different changes and nothing seems to make a difference.

One thing I’m starting to suspect is the high-pressure fuel pump. The car uses a CP3S3-L70 pump, and I’m wondering if it might be reaching its flow limit and not able to deliver the required fuel at higher loads. Has anyone had experience with the actual capacity of this pump in tuned setups? Could this be the bottleneck?

Another doubt: I read the ECU via OBD using a KT200II on a manual transmission car. I’ve read that on automatic models, some codeblocks can be missed with OBD reads — could it be the same here? I haven’t tried a bench read yet, since the damos didn’t show any extra blocks that would justify it, but I’m starting to wonder if I might be missing something critical.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue, or could point me in the right direction?
