KWP2000+ and 98' GOLF mk4 ALH ECU

hello colleges, i've god 1.9 TDI ALH 90PS engine in my 98' mk4 golf. i would like to know, could i read/flash my ecu file with KWP2000+ ? the turbo on engine is with variable geometry. :?

tried to search about that on this great forum, but didnt find that. sorry for new topic. need your help.

012 ecu - you can read
018 ecu - you must solder

thanks you very much, can i get info from vag com which ecu my engine use? or i need to get it out and see on the ecu sticker?

OK, today i used VAG COM to identify my ECU.... sad news for me it's 018 :oops: what now should i do? get ALH ecu from newer GOLF/BORA with 012 or solder my own ECU? any suggestions would be great! :idea:

Can i read ALH 018 ECU with MPPS in boot mode???? can i read somehow without soldering ????

There is no way to read or write this ECU without opening it up. Most people replace the chips with something like a 29F010B which makes them reflashable, but you still have to open the ECU.

:o that sounds great. can you give me some more info about 29F010B i could buy that, open my ecu, solder that chip, and then my ECU will be readable with MPPS?

EDIT: damn, now i understand, all the time i would like to change my map, i will need to open ecu, eject this chip ant reflash it on the eprom soft... i hate my ECU after that... can i swap to my car another ECU from 1,9 TDI ALH but with 012 ?

yes you can swap it
