Increasing IQ above original values

Hi Guys,

Have just been starting to look at the various different maps on my EDC15P ECU on a PD130 engine.

Now as far as I understand in looking in particular at the injection duration maps, if the values on the axis of the map for IQ are (for example) 25mg/st and 30mg/st and the car requires 27.5mg/st, then the ECU uses linear interpolation to calculate the required duration for 27.5mg/st.

In looking at the smoke limiter and torque limiter maps (the most restrictive maps as I understand) the largest IQ I can find is 68mg/st at 2000rpm (I am aware the car is not on the standard map), but in looking at the maps for injection duration, the highest axis value I can see for IQ is 60mg/st.

My question is, does the ECU continue to use linear interpolation based on the rate of change of duration between 55mg/st and 60mg/st to calculate a value for 68mg/st, or does the ECU just use the duration value for 60mg/st for all values greater than 60mg/st?
i.e. so that no matter what the map says, the car will not get anymore than 60mg/st anyway?

60 mg will be the injection limit.

Yes 60 mg will be your top! For more you should change two more maps.

Apologies if im asking a daft question...but...in looking at one map in particular I have come across, the max axis value for IQ is 60mg/st.

However, the injection duration values have been changed from the originals to increased values.
I assume at this point its safe to say that more than the axis value of fuel is being injected per stroke on the modified points on the maps.

In this case, am I correct in saying that the mpg's the car is suggesting its running at will be innacurate as the amount of fuel its injecting (i.e. whats on the axis values) is infact incorrect?

You can make changes on both axis values, not just in values of them, but also axis values.This is your key. Original your axis are up to 60 mg/stroke, now you want more, so you should change them.

Now starting to understand that the axis values can be changed and that is the 'proper' way to do it.

But in looking at the map file I have, someone has changed the injection durations away from defualt.
Will that cause the car to incorrectly display its fuel economy and miles left in the tank?

Exactly.

You should get an ori file for your car and compare maps.

That's exactly what I did for my ex car. I was surprised how fu***d up the software was. :wtf: ...and how powerless the engine became when I restored the program to original state... :shock: :shock:
