I've done something silly

Postby Stebo » Mon Feb 18, 2013 12:16 pm

Hi, I recently bought a Citroen C5 which I was looking to remove the egr and PDF from. I bought a galletto and used ecusafe and winols to remove egr and PDF from the original map... Then I started messing about

I had downloaded a tuned map which, as suspicious as I was, I wouldn't help but try out. As soon as it finished downloading my engine fan came on, and stayed on when I turned off ignition. When I tried to start the car it turned over but wouldn't start. At this stage I started bricking it and tried to put the original map back onto the car. Unfortunately this won't work, galletto sits at the hourglass for a few minutes then tells me that there is a data reading error.

The other issue is that by the time I got round to putting the original map back on the car, citroen's clever economy mode had kicked in. I'm not sure if this was to do with the battery getting low or the rubbish map I'd downloaded. I've stuck a battery charger on the car for a while and it's still in economy mode and galletto still isn't able to download the original.

I know I'm a very silly boy for downloading a free file of the Internet, but does anybody have any suggestions? Would putting the ecu into a boot mode allow me to reflash to proper map back onto it, and can this be done using galletto and on the car? Maybe I am wasting my time with the car on the charger and I should be spending my time removing the ecu and either trying to source a new one or learning about bench flashing!?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Iv gave up, figure ecu's giggered. Going to get a replacement. Can I get one from a scrap yard or does it need to be coded to immobiliser and keys, etc?? :(

I saved a copy on the map using galletto, does this file contain immobiliser codes, key codes ect?

Iv found a guy that'll sell me an ecu from a C5 2.2hdi manual. My car is a C5 2.2hdi auto. Am I being optimistic thinking that I could buy his ecu, put it in my car and load the original file I saved onto it??

You cant read the immobilizier or key codes via OBD.. Its not in the flash..

There is the Flash, which you can read via OBD. But via OBD you get only the maps for tuning.. To read the Fullflash you have to open the ECU and connect by BDM or Bootloader..

And there is the Eeprom.. The Eeprom includes the Immo Data's.. You can read the Eeprom also by BDM or by Bootloader..
If you buy an other ECU with the same hardwarenumber you must copy your own Eeprom in the new ECU.. Or immo off the new ECU in the Eeprom.. If u wirte only the flash in the new car the car won't start..

Give us more Info what ECU is it.. The Hardwarenumber, the Softwarenumber, type of ECU..
or post you original readout here..

You don't have to buy a new ECU..

You don't have to buy a new ECU. Writing back the original flash in boot mode can solve the problem.

It's and edc15c2, HW:0281011780, SW1037372947.

The ecu files I put on via galletto worked until I tried the one I downloaded on the internet, and the galletto (and software) is still working on other cars so I think everything is okay on that end.

I got the 2nd hand ecu with the keys and am having the exect same problem. Galleto won't read or write to the ecu at all. The program tells me is that it's initialising, then says data error.

The other confusing is that the engine fan comes on when the ignition is turned on (strangely with the original ecu the fan comes on and then stays on regardless of the ignition).

To read eeprom if it a case of desoldering chips, etc? Don't have a great soldering iron (or steady hand) for re-soldering chips. :?

I have the new ecu's key so I was kina hoping (just to allow me to use the car) that I could just keep the new key close to the ignition and it would deactivate the new ecu's immobiliser.

This was the file I was downloading when things went tits up.

Can anybody check it to see if it's okay or if it's likely to have messed things up? I'm starting to suspect that there may be something not related to the ecu file wrong, possibly some fuse blown or wires shorting. It's a bit strange that the engine fan insists on staying on permanantly.

Also now the fan is reacting the same way to the new ecu as the old one - comes on when ignition is turned on and won't go off until a big plug is removed or until the battery is disconnected.

Still stuck and car-less :x

Iv also discovered that the galletto is reacting the same way if I try to run it without the obd plug attached. Getting more and more suspicious that there might be something wrong with obd plug. :?:

Is there any good guides on setting up a bench set-up to bench flash this ecu with galletto? Is using a car battery as a power source going to work or will I need to buy a power pack??

Hi,

You have uploaded a wrong file. You must re upload your original file or your original tuned file. You can do it using boot mode or you can do it with a programer. The chip is the am29f400bt, no need to buy a new ecu, just re write your file.

B. Regards,
