I am a bit of a home mechanic but ecu are Black Boxes to me. Before I consider a reprogram or replacement I have to make a move cross country so I am looking to first see if I can temporarily deal with the lack of ground running from the intake air temperature sensor and the ECU by grounding the air temperature sensor to the body of the car. I own a 1999 Chevy Astro with a 4.3l vortex motor. There is positive voltage coming from the ECU but the return ground is out. So anyone know if this can be used for a temporary repair or might it harm the ECU?
