Golf 5 1.9 experiences

Postby mcla13 » Fri Oct 01, 2021 5:57 pm

Hello,

I'm driving a Golf 5 1.9 and inform myself of potential tuning possibilities. Mine is already chipped, but in future I hope to find out how well it was done. I'm satisfied so far, but of course looking for the optimum.

Maybe some of you can share what you have achieved? or are here people who upgraded the turbo to a bigger one?

Thanks to this forum, I will try to remove my EGR in the next couple of days.

For me BKC with only software mod drives good, after EGR mod by hysteresis reaction is better but engine heats up a bit slower, which means worse fuel consumption in our climate.

My daily is 2006 Mk5 Golf 1.9 BKC with 360,000kms on the clock.
Mod List:
APR head studs, 4 bar MAP senser, Garrett GTB2060VKLR turbo, 120% injector nozzles, hard boost pipe kit, stainless FMIC, custom stainless intake, 2.0 tdi 6 speed manual gear box with heavy duty clutch and Solid Mass Flywheel, 3" straight through exhaust from turbo back, ASV, EGR and cooler delete with race pipe, mapped with my own 4 bar tune running 40psi @5500rpm. Also done adjustable coilovers all round, B5 passat aluminium lower control arms, anti lift kit, adjustable sway bar links, front and rear sway bar from a mk6 gti, pirelli edition brake converstion, GTI front bar, side skirts and rear hatch (for the extra lip on the wing), R32 rear bar with twin centre exhaust tips, maxton design rear diffuser, mk6 gti stearing wheel, mk6 gti tartan rear bench seat, mk7 gti tartan front seats, Scirrocco R dash, mk6 side mirrors and 19inch talledega wheels. i think thats it so far. Next is water meth injection. puts out around 330hp and 640nm torque and still average 1000km per tank.
