Ford focus 1.6 TDCI 109BHP DPF delete

Postby DocJen » Sat Jul 27, 2013 10:47 pm

Hi everyone, sorry for a slightly long second post - any help greatly appreciated...

I'm having the devils own job with my 59 plated focus 1.6 TDCI 109 - It had a "professional" DPF delete done with a remap - but unfortunately despite multiple visits to the dealer the ECU is still putting up codes which suggest that it thinks it still has a DPF. The remap place are mystified as the have checked rechecked and rechecked again and all the DPF routines appear to be correctly patched,

Most notably the dreaded code P2002 - "DPF operating below efficiency threshold bank 1" is appearing - I can clear this with a diagnostic scanner, but it always reappears within a few days.

Also the other night I noted with alarm a huge amount of grey smoke at low engine revs - which I think was because the ECU suddenly decided to raise the exhaust operating temperature to regen a DPF that simply isn't there...

The DPF sensors are still in place of course, and the ECU is a PDC16c34

I have lost faith in the garage and being an ex-engineer myself (although I am of the female variety and hence generally until now have not done cars) I have decided that I need to have a go at sorting this out for myself.

Apart from anything else - i'm starting a medical degree in about 4 weeks so I am rapidly running out of both time and money for repeated trips to a garage which is now some distance from me.

I have bought an OBDCII reading and writing interface so I can talk to the ECU from my lappy. What do I now need to know/do in order to finally convince this moronic ECU that it doesn't have a DPF!!!

Hi,

Be carefull with OBDII flash tool, read my previous post. When you write you could hit eeprom (configuration of IMMO, Injectors etc.) problems.

Read your flash and check the FAP/DPF switch bit. In my case the bit was on 1E806D byte.
I have used BDM100 with 100% success but you need to open your ECU.

Read your ECU and post the file, I will help you solve your issue. The DPF was not turned off inside the ECU correctly.

Just like divagomania says, apparently, not all tools that say they can do this ecu, can...

MPPS is one of those tools apparently... Do you know what tool was used to write to your car?

Divagomania: besides MPPS, do you know if old version galletto or cmd, will work on this? Or do they write the eeprom also?

I've had troube with MPPS writing to Renault Laguna with EDC16CP33... maybe it writes to eeprom also, because some codes were lost, although MPPS writes a separate file with injector coding...

Best Regards
Tecno
