Focus mk1 1.8 tdci 115PS DELPHI ECU start quantity location?

Postby mocPL » Tue Oct 07, 2014 9:11 pm

Hi folks, yepp, a Lynx engine again... Focus mk1 series seem to be another non-starting 1.8 tdci Lynx powered Ford. A lot of people complain that them engines won`t start, specially at low temperatures. Every possible cause have been checked, nothing found. Previous workshop have broke client`s bank changing 4 injectors, 4 plugs, CKP sensor, fuel lines, battery, starter motor, FRP valve and... nothing changed! Have to be bastards charging it all a client without any discount, just like "yes, we gonna see if it helps but no warranty that it will, we charge anyway"... On -10 Celsius for an example the ngine is cranking but nothing happens then. I wonder if somebody could share their knowledge to localize start quantity maps on this Delphi ECU?

I will appreciate that pal, many thanks, but will it be a pump unit failing this time? I see the pressure being okay when cranking, but building it a bit longer than others tdci, i mean its like having a requested pressure after few cranks more than newer 1.8 tdci... Just thinking - maybe that problem is coming from the pumping section ball valves and seatings, or pistons directly? Anyway thanks in advance for help.

Hey, i had a funny story once, looking-like this non-crank situation. I had a new Mondeo tdci 1.8 having the same problem but the engine seemed to be killed after approx. 2 hours of pause, no reaction at all, even start fluid sprayed directly into the maifold havent fired it up for good, then after few days of battle i saw a little tiny scratch on a plastic fuel pipe covered by some kind of plastic isolation that don`t fulfill its task anyway but so on, it was broken that way so didn`t leaked even a drop. Just by friction. SHT happens when fuel lines are not investigated correctly...
Cheers.

Another question is about Focus mk2 with the same engine but no power... Head done, injectors done, turbo done, VGT reg done as well, and still no power, car drives like it had no low revs just beyond 2300 it drives like it should. Been thinkin` bout the timing but have checked it too. Any suggestion?

Hi
Have also came across this problem several times with the focus have noticed that the glow plug supply voltage does not stay on for longer than a couple of seconds on the ones I seen , what aspect of the map did you change to cure your problem with starting ?
Regards phil
