I tried to switch off EGR in Alfa Romeo 156 1.9 115cv edc15c7 740-796

if I set to 12740 all the bits in EGR map, I can see the EGR is really closed but there is P0404 error.

I don't want this error stored in ECU, so I tried to put 71b21 bit from 1 to 0 value and loaded the file to car. Loading was completed without errors, and I could turn on the car, but the engine didn't response correctly to gas pedal, lots of smoke and bad smell, so I immediately turned off the engine.

I think that 71b21 isn't the EGR switch in this ECU.
Can you help me finding the correct address?

In this file there are 3 files:
- Alfa 156 740-796 original
- Alfa 156 740-796 EGR off - Working
- Alfa 156 740-796 EGR off and EGR switch off - NOT Working

Alfa 156 740-796.zip

1. Find a bit in adress 71AEF and change it from 001 to 000
2. find an EGR map, it 16x16 map before injection at the part trottle map. (k- factor - 4, adress 071F04, start adress 071EC0 in my version of firmware)
3. find there a maximum value - 12740 and replace all values in this map with it.

why do people always upload files without ecu code and chipcode in the file name ?
should be lot easyer not need to dl a file already in a project ...

I have Lancia Lybra 1.9 JTD with EDC15C7 HW 338 SW 3108, and after some looking around for that magic EGR byte :), I think I have found it at 0x71B1F address.

Here is the sequency of 8 bytes in my file, starting at above mentioned address:
01 01 01 01 00 00 01 30

According to the many post I have read on this and other forums, the very first byte should be the EGR off switch.

Since I am very new to all this, I would appreciate if someone experienced could confirm my findings :)

71B1F --> EGR SWITCH
71EB8 --> EGR MAP

Hi,

I'm looking for info about EDC15 (1.9 JTD 115KM). I have a plate between EGR and intake manifold but EGR is not disabled in ECU.
Is there any impact on engine work in this case? (I have no 'check engine' on board and no error in ecu)
I'm not sure if engine works every time with full power.

I want to know (a little at least) how it works.
